Hello to everyone from a longtime lurker:surfweb: I have learned so much from all of you, but I finally have a question that nobody else has asked.

We (me, DH, DS 10 and DD7) will be visiting DLR 10/21-10/28 :woohoo: We've only been once before, about 5 years ago, and the kids were too small to stay up for the evening entertainment. We really want to see the Fireworks and Fantasmic this year. They are only showing on the weekends, so we need to go Saturday 10/22 or Sunday 10/23. We normally avoid the parks on the weekends--and I am completely unsure of myself in trying to pick which weekend day to go.

If we go Saturday, 10/22, SoCal and SoCal select AP's are blocked and if the Fireworks and Fantasmic don't happen for some reason, we could always spend Sunday in the park as well (if we have too) BUT I expect there to be considerable crowds associated with the Utah Educators Association school break and every guidebook I read says that Saturday is always busier than Sunday.

If we go Sunday, 10/23, there may be lower crowds associated with UEA, BUT only the SoCal Select AP's are blocked and if something happens and the Fireworks/Fantasmic are cancelled, we won't have another chance to see them.

On either day, the plan would be to watch fireworks and then catch the second Fantasmic show.

Which day would you choose and why??

I'm in the same boat as you, only for us it will be the weekend prior, Oct. 16 & 17. I'm planning on Saturday to see Fantasmic! and the fireworks, just in case something goes "wrong" and then I will still have Sunday to (hopefully) catch whatever I may have missed.

always try to do fireworks the first night possible--because I know the feeling when they announce "due to high winds, fireworks have been cancelled". The winds don't even have to be that much--just enough to flutter the flags over the castle a little--and then they are gone. We had one spring break trip where we tried to see them every night, and they were cancelled each night!:sad2: And that was after waiting in our spot in the hub for a loooong time before! So fireworks always come at first available chance, and everything else is gravy from then on.

Thanks for the advice. I was leaning Saturday--good to know my thinking is rational.
