Fireworks during NYE?

Do any of the parks have different fireworks for NYE than the regular fireworks?

For example: MK do they run Wishes on New Year's or a special fireworks?

MK usually runs "Wishes" at around 9pm (for the kids to see fireworks but not have to stay up so late) and "Fantasy In the Sky" with perimeters at midninght for NYE.

MGM has been known to run Sorcery In the Sky for NYE

Epcot does Illumintaions.

I wanted to add that Epcot doesn't just run IllumiNations... it's an extended version. They do the regular IllumiNations show, then afterward, they have an additional fireworks display that is truly the most intense I have ever seen. The kind that you can feel your skin vibrating from the noise of all of the fireworks they are setting off one after another after another.

The funny thing was that the first time we saw the IllumiNations show for a major holiday (they do the same thing for July 4, just not at midnight!!), the regular show was finishing and my sister made some comment about not being able to believe that she had braved all of those crowds to see the same fireworks she could see any day of the year... then the "good stuff" started!

I had never seen Sorcery in the Sky until NYE 2000. You can't see it any more except special events, so it's kind of neat. I must say, though, that MGM is a small park and it's packed shoulder to shoulder at midnight because no one is on any of the rides at that moment. I am glad I went, but I won't go again.

I second this. The Illuminations show for NYE 2002 also included separate small fireworks displays in each of the countries with music native to that country prior to the countdown. It was really amazing. (Of course, it was also pouring down rain like I have never ever seen--- a very empty midnight display for sure)

Best of luck with your choice!

Thanks... I think Epcot might be our choice. I don't think I want to do MK, that's just a tad crowded for me.

We were at Epcot for the fireworks this past 4th of July and will be there again this NYE. It is the most intense fireworks display that you will ever see. Enjoy! ::MickeyMo

We were also there NYE 2002. We watched the early IllumiNations and got wet and then hung around to watch the midnight show as well. It was great. The park was really empty. We were able to walk on most ride in World Showcase (Norway, Mexico). Taped the midnight show under my boyfriend holding an umbrella over my head. We then were able to walk on Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Journey Into Imagination and Space Ship Earth. I don't think I have ever seen so much rain in my life.
