We have never seen Wishes or Illuminations in our trips to WDW, but now that our kids are older and (presumably) can handle later nights, we'd like to see them both on our upcoming trip in November. I've already made a 6:40 p.m. PS at Ohana's, hoping that the MK will close at 7:00 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. (based on November 2003 hours) and we can see Wishes from there. If it works out, I'm wondering if it might be a good idea to head to Epcot right after dinner to catch Illuminations, presumably at 9:00 p.m.?

The idea I have is to catch an Epcot bus from the Poly and stake out a spot with easy access to the exit so that we can catch a POFQ bus after Illuminations. My theory is that going back to the MK after dinner to catch a resort bus back to POFQ will put is in the midst of the park closing rush there, as would trying to take the monorail (all the way around the lagoon) to the TTC and taking the Epcot monorail.

Is this madness or is it workable? Should we try it or should I come to my senses and grab a cab back to POFQ after dinner?

The Poly is a very short walk to TTC. I would do that and then take the monorail to Epcot. Is there a bus that goes from the Poly to Epcot? I thought you had to take the monorail.

You do have to take the monorail to Epcot from the Poly. Just walk to the TTC after dinner it is a short walk.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the monorail stopped at the Poly. I had a breakfast at Kona and the monorail stopped right on that level.

There actually are three separate monorails, only one of which--the resort monorail--stops at the Poly. The Epcot monorail only runs between the TTC and Epcot. The Express monorail runs counterclockwise around Seven Seas Lagoon and only stops at the TTC and MK. The resort monorail runs clockwise around the lagoon with stops at the Poly, GF, MK, CR and TTC.

You are correct, but the monorail then stops at the GF, the MK and the CR before getting to the TTC. As another post mentioned, it is a short walk from the Poly to the TTC.

DH and I did something similar to this a few years back. DS was 3 and DD was 3 mos. We were there in June and watched the fireworks at MK and were walking out when we decided to catch the monorail to TTC/Epcot instead of waiting for the bus to the resort.

Not the easiest thing to do with a 3mo in a Baby Bjorn, but we managed to get a good spot at Epcot anyway and have wonderful memories of that trip even though the kids were too little to remember.

So I have to say as long as you have about 30-45 minutes (running/jogging) you can do it. I would stick to the monorail and aviod the bus. Then hang around and wait for the crowd to thin out before walking out to the bus back to the resort.
