We are celebrating my birthday this May at WDW. I thought it would be fun to take the birthday cruise.

1) Has anyone taken this cruise? How was it? What type of cake is available and what are the decorations?

2) Is it possible to schedule the birthday cruise during the MK fireworks?

If so, do you know the cost?

Thanks.

I haven't done it personally, but I know I've read that you CAN schedule a birthday fireworks cruise. Here is what I found:

Yacht and Beach Club Birthday Fireworks Cruise

Reservations: 407-WDW-PLAY - Taken between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m, up to 90 days before event.

Price: $220.00 plus tax - Pontoon Boat (holds up to 12 guests, with a maximum of 10 adults)

Hours: Cruise leaves approximately 45 minutes to one hour before IllumiNations.

Features/Options: Boat is decorated in the birthday theme; Personalized Birthday Cake, Soft Drinks; Cruise around Crescent Lake and then over to Epcot to view IllumiNations (voyage lasts approximately 45-50 minutes)

From another site:

Birthday Specialty Cruise: $220 for up to 10 adults, or parties of 12 if it includes a mix of children & adults. Decorated boats depart their dock 30 minutes before IllumiNations or the Fantasy In the Sky Fireworks, and last for one hour.

The Birthday Cruise includes a personalized cake, chips & soda (no alcohol - although it can be provided at extra expense), and a VIP viewing area for either show.

Hope that helps.

Also make sure to book early, from what I have heard this is difficult to reserve because there is only a certain amount of boats available for this. You have to call at like 6:58 am to get a ressie. So find out the date you want and find out how early you can book asap.

We have done specialty cruises for both Illuminations and Wishes. We did the birthday cruise for Illuminations and just a regular cruise for wishes. The cake was nice and very pretty, it had some beautiful decorations on the icing. The decorations were nice, but I just don't think it was worth an extra $ 100. We have done cakes at various restraunts for $ 40 dollars that were just as beautiful. No matter what you do on you birthday in WDW it will be wonderful! The cruises themselves are wonderful and the view of Wishes from the lagoon is awsome. I found on the Illuminations cruise some of our view was obstructed ( all the boats park under the bridge). All of our captains have been great, they were filled with lots of Disney info and seemed to love their jobs. Happy Early Birthday! We are celebrating my dd's 4th birthday in April and we have already booked the Wishes cruise again.
