Fireworks at Poly Beach

Is it true that people using the restaurants can no longer get on the beach to watch fireworks?

I am not sure if anything has changed there. Personally, I think that only those people actually staying at the Poly should be allowed access to the beach to watch fireworks. It's a perk of the resort, not the resteraunt in the resort.

Fireworks viewing at the Poly beach has always officially been for people staying at the resort only. However, this rule is rarely enforced. It's only strongly enforced during Disney peak fireworks viewing times such as New Years Eve/Day, 4th of July, etc.
They do check magic bands from time to time, albeit rarely. If you are not staying there and by chance they do check your magic band, then you have to leave.

Thanks, I thought beach access was part of exploring the resort. I heard 2nd hand that they were checking bands in May and restaurant patrons were turned away. I thought this was a new thing. I appreciate your responses.

I was staying at Poly in the new DVC units in May. I had a lakeview on the 1st floor. I observed people removing chairs from some of the DVC patios & dragging them out near the water to view the Fireworks. If they weren't the people who were staying in those units someone should have been preventing them from doing this. Also as a non-smoker I didn't appreciate having to smell the cigarette smoke from the people who were camped out watching the fireworks. If it isn't a perk for just people staying there it certainly should be. The DVC bungalows have limited the actual beach view of the fireworks where they are located although I was able to see them fine albeit with the bungalows in my viewing range.
