fireworks and babies

We were watching some disney programs today and happened to realize that our baby may not care for fireworks or things like fantasmic because of the loud noises.
What has been every one else's experience with this? Did your baby mind the loud noise? Can these things be harmful to the baby? Mine will be 8 months on our next trip, but 4th of July is right around the corner too and she'll be 2 months then.

Congrats on your new baby!
It is hard to say how she will react to the fireworks. I have seen babies at Disney sleep right through them.
When DD was a baby, fireworks didn't bother her at all. This past January we were at Disney and she cried during Illuminations and Wishes and she was 2.
She how she reacts to the 4th of July fireworks and go from there. I hope this helps.

My daughter was bothered by the noise...still is actually and she'll be 4 in Oct. My DH found ear protection online that we bring with us..they look like Earphones

DD is easily startled, so I thought she would hate the fireworks, but she loved them. At one point during Illuminations I turned her away from them, and she cried until I moved her so she could see them. She was fascinated by the colors. She was almost 3mo on our trip. DS3 did not like the noise. We will take earplugs for him next time.

My DD was 1 the first time in Disney, she loved the fireworks at MK, but fell asleep during illuminations. Now that she's three I can't keep her away from the fireworks.

DS arrived on a May 26, and we went to the local 4th of July celebrations. I wore him in the sling (Hotsling) all day, and he actually was asleep during the fireworks. He had one ear pressed against me, and the other ear was covered in fabric, and I held him tight just in case he startled, and I murmured to him the whole time, letting his sleeping self know what was going on.

The babies I saw at that 4th of July (and since) who were worried about it were generally being kept away from a parent's body, down in a stroller, going through it "alone", rather than with someone right there with/for them.

I highly recommend a sling and telling them in a soothing voice what is going on...even if you don't really think a 2 month old will understand.

I think you may have something there. I was holding DD in my arms and talking to her too. She was awake, which I think helped her. If she is startled out of her sleep, she gets hysterical.

My girls were 7 months when we brought them and they loved them. They also saw them when they were 3 months for the 4th of July and it didn't phase them.

DS loved watching them, but he hated the noise and the feel of the concussion. I think that when you are taking a baby, it is best to NOT try for any kind of prime spot -- a little distance is usually a good thing.

DS's first fireworks were when he was 12 days old. He slept through it. Then he went at 1 year and loved them. DD first saw fireworks at 4.5 months, no problems, she was awake and never cried or anything and she has been fine since then. At WDW at 11 months old she slept through Wishes. She was awake for part of fantasmic and fell asleep 1/2 ways through.

Well, thanks for all the replies. I'm going to take her and see how she does. We're lucky we have a trial run with the fourth, but after hearing what everyone has to say, I think she'll be fine.

I'm surprised so many people said go for it. It is not just loud it is wicked LOUD not to be a party pooper but my nearly 3 yr old still getts a little freak out goin on - I had to make a bee line for the boat and even that was'nt far enough away good luck
