Firewall?

I am fed up with my McAfee anti-virus/firewall. They want $74 for a 1 year renewal and it bogs down my system so much it drives me up a wall. At the suggestion of a friend, I am going to switch to AVG free anti-virus program. But is there a free firewall program that someone can recommend? TIA!

check in your computer- I thought Windows has it's own firewall??

I use Norton, yes I pay annually but they have one where you can install on 3 computers, which is what we have. I think it does a great job, and to me it is money well spent.

I use the free version of Zonealarm and it does a good job. I also use the free AVG anti-virus.

Mircosoft security essentials, AVG or Zone alarm are all good security essentials you also need a spyware remover like Adaware or Spybot search and destroy.

I have been using the online armour which is free. I had Trend Micro (paid) before.

We use Vipre antivirus. It doesn't slow down your computer and is one of the top rated programs you can buy. Not too expensive either. $30 per year. We get deals on Black Friday when they have 1/2 price sales. We've tried many other antivirus & firewalls and this is the best. DH is a computer guru and researched the reviews pretty thoroughly and found top ratings from places like CNet.

Hi there, i use pc tools firewall plus free edition...it is very good and rated really good, best thing, it is free!!! I use it along side avast (also free) and superanti
spyware...seems like it is doing the trick on all 4 of our computers!!!

I don't know who your internet provider is - but AT&T recently partnered with McAfee and for $4 a month all of the computers in my house are protected and software is updated regularly. I have had virus/firewall protection with AT&T for over a year now and have been very pleased with their service.
