Firefox 6.0 and the ADR site...

Since Firefox 5.0 was released, it's been broken on the ADR site, constantly searching for tables and never finding any. Last night, Mozilla.org released a new version (6.0). I just updated my work computer here to it and tested a little on the ADR site itself.

The issue with the never finding results has been fixed in this version. I was also able to log in to the site without problem (though it was VERY very slow). I don't know about 180+10 yet, as I'm not willing to put $200 down to book a trip to test it, sorry :p.

So, to repeat. Firefox 6.0 does work with the table search, and for those MSIE haters out there (myself included) we can now stop downgrading our browser (or using a crappy alternative, e.g. MSIE) to get the functionality.

Just thought you'd like to know :).

Yesterday's Edit:
Upon further testing, I may have spoken too soon. The "Guest Information" page after you select the restaurant you'd like is not coming up correctly and is not functional :(.

This Morning's Edit:
Retested this in the AM and it appears functional once again.

Yes, i've been having issues trying to book with Explorer on my Mac, but the online site is now down for maintenance, so maybe it's not us! It's THEY who are having problems!

Since others were having issues on other browsers, I figured I'd retry again this morning. I was up early anyway...

I retested this on Firefox 6.0 and was able to successfully Search and Confirm a dining reservation! (Of which I canceled immediately :p) So it looks like the Firefox woes are over (for now) and the site works as "well" as it normally does once again.

Happy ADR searching!

It's not a problem with firefox, it's a problem with disney's website.

I haven't had any trouble using firefox to book ADRs online. (wel only when disney's website is having trouble) and this is going back to July 2010. not sure which version of firefox I have but it's not the latest, cause i keep having download issues with the newest version.

I didn't think anybody used Firefox anymore. Even IE9 has surpassed it by now and Chrome is light-years ahead of both.

When Firefox launched 5.0 a couple months ago, there was something that didn't jive with the table search. 4.0 worked, 3.x worked, 5.0 didn't.

I still prefer FF to IE9 when coding. FF is better to code for as IE still uses shortcuts and doesn't render W3C compliant HTML the same as Safari, Mozilla, Chrome, and other W3C complaint browsers. So it makes my stuff ugly :p.

Does Safari still work okay? I used it in 2010 without any problems, and my next trip's 180+10 window will be here in a few weeks.

could someone please tell me what these dining reservation tools are or where I could go to learn about them?? working on ADR's is now on my agenda for our upcoming spring trip and apparantly my pencil/paper approach may be quite antiquated now

I'm pretty anti-Apple, so I don't know :p. I do know that Safari (and Chrome, and IE, etc) did not experience the same major issue that FF5.0 did though, so I'd assume it still works.

You can always attempt to book an ADR less than 180 days out ahead of time, just to make sure your setup works. If it goes through, simply cancel it right away, no harm no foul.

Not sure what "tools" you are talking about. I use a spreadsheet (either Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc) and plot everything out.

Basically, I just copy down park hours, toss the TP suggestions in there (as guidelines), a long list of the meals and dates that I'll be there, and then a long list of the meals I want to do.

At that point, it's a puzzle, just placing meals in where they can fit and seeing what comes out. Then swapping things around a bit if I need to.

OpenOffice is a Java-based version of similar MSOffice programs, and is available free (and legal, and safe!) on the web at www.openoffice.org.
