Please keep the families in your thoughts. The 13 year old was a friend of my daughter and I had her and her brother as students.

What freaks me out is I woke up at 6:30 and went into my daughter's room to get her up. Our house was surrounded by firetrucks and other vehicles. I can't believe none of us woke up! The siren is just a block from my house and this house is only 3 houses down from us. The dogs didn't even stir, and these two will bark at a passing squirrel. I don't know why none of us heard this.

That is so sad! :sad1:

I have a 13 year old DS, so when I read this, I can't help but think of him. :sad1:

That is sad. :guilty: I'm sorry to hear that such young lives were lost.

I can't even imagine what those families are going through right now.

When I got home from work, the streets were still blocked (although I was allowed through to go home) and they were in the process of tearing the whole house down.

The middle school, in all its usual compassionate and kind ways, waited til the end of the day to tell the students and then said they'd have a counselor in tomorrow, but only for kids who were closest to the girl who died.
