Didn't see this posted here yet.

Seeing all over twitter that at least 6 cars are on fire at the Mickey and Friends parking garage. Currently considered a 2 alarm fire.

Sounds like they need that a water leak like the one from the Lime parking garage at WDW's Disney Springs last week.

The lot was closed for 2 hours. I imagine a lot of people are returning to cars that smell heavily of smoke.

According to twitter, the lot is open now except for level 2(Daisy). Some people have left the park and are leaving their cars there. Others are upset and trying to find out when they can get to their cars. Looks like a mess.

So glad we parked in the Toy Story lot today! We left after 5:00 and had no idea any of this was going on. We usually park in Mickey and Friends in the am and for some reason we did not this morning (traffic was heavy on the map app probably). We usually park on the 2nd or 3rd level. I feel very lucky!!!

Wondering if it will be open for parking tomorrow. That would be a disaster if they couldn't put any cars there.

I feel like they may open it later in the day tomorrow, but it honestly depends on how the fire investigation goes and how much damage was done in that area. Also if people are going home and leaving their cars in the parking lot they may just keep it closed until everyones cars clear out. Luckily Disneyland has a lot of options for parking that they can use if Mickey and Friends remains closed tomorrow.

I really feel for those who lost their cars in the fire, and those who have really damaged vehicles.

I really feel for those people as well. Not a nice ending to their day at the parks. Who knows how many of the damaged vehicles will be operable. The NBC article said that at 8:30, Disney opened the structure to allow people to get their cars out and asked evening visitors to park at the Toy Story lot.

My mom parked one row away from the cars that were on fire.

The staff on scene were very nice. The area is blocked off and we had identify the car before they would allow us into the area.

Had we been directed to the left when parking - her car would have been one of the burned ones.

Oddly being in Cali my first thought was I wonder if that is where the electric car charging is. I realized though that most of those are on the ground floor though. Would be interesting if that was the case.

I really hope it wasn't arson but can't think of much else that would have caused this many cars to catch fire. Thankfully it seems no one was hurt outside of the smoke inhalation.

I thought that all of the electric charging stations were on the ground floor of the structure, that is the only location we have ever been directed to park our Volt.

yeah that's what I came to realize. When I first heard parking garage fire in Cali and didn't know what level my mind instantly thought electric car but once it came out it was the 2nd floor I realized that probably wasn't the case.

There are no electric charging stations on the upper floors of the structure.

Seems some cars are prone to catching fire while parked. Apparently there have been recent recalls by Ford for this issue. Probably what happened here.

The other possibility is someone flicked a cigarette butt onto the ground and ignitited an oil/gas spot that spread. They are currently still investigating and with all the security cameras in place all over the structure I'm sure the cause will be determined soon.
