This is sad to hear. I am headed to universal on Tuesday and it is one of my favorite rides in the park!

Somone who was in the HP area, saw the fire, then smelled burning plastic. He then noticed all of the people coming over from Toon Lagoon. Then he stated that even when the ride reopens, he wont ride it because a fire could happen again and now its not safe..

The he shouldn't go out driving again because the roads are unsafe.

I loved this ride....remember when they didn't have the restraints?? It was way better, but still, I loved this ride....I don't suppose it will be open by the beginning of May, but if it is, I'll consider it a bonus. I guess I'll just have to settle for Jurassic Park and Popeye to get my daily soak!

Happy that no one was injured though...at least thats one good thing.

I was there yesterday and the ride from a guest perspective looks like nothing happened. Just the water is drained. I overheard this while walking by:

Guest one: It is closed because it set on fire yesterday.

Guest two: Whatever, it would look like there had been a fire if there had been one. It looks perfect.

Guest one: No, seriously. The roof caught on fire, it is going to be closed for weeks.

Guest two: I'm going to go ask if it is going to open today.

How can someone say that this ride is unsafe if it was caused by a vendor truck catching on fire? People can be so weird.

I'm glad that no one was hurt and that the damage isn't worse.

That was an unofficial report and now according to Jason Garcia at the Sentinel, officialls still don't know exactly what caused it:

Ugh. I'll just say that until they figure it out that there's still no sign that anything is unsafe. That is, IF they figure it out.

I mean really? really? IOA has been open how long? and there has NEVER been an issue? He didnt even know what caused the fire...LOL..some people...

The article I read said that he wouldn't ride it, if it *immediately* reopened.

And neither would I! Just seems too soon.

But it didn't open immediately, so it's moot.

It was closed when we were there in September. I'm glad we missed it!

They are saying that it should be closed about 2 - 3 months, one month of which is the normal shutdown. They are going to fix the fire damage first then do the rest of the normal maintenance on the ride.

I think total cudos go to the TM's who handled a very scary situation with grace. It was scary being there but all was handled smoothly and the area was re-opened within an hour and a half thanks to TM and OFD!

There is no official app for wait times. Which one are you using? Some are just as reliable as the info that people are inputting.

The app is called UO waits and is exactly like the WDW waits and downloaded automatically when I got the Magic Guide. It certainly shows the correct WDW rides that are closed.

Wait times are app user submitted times. So I guess you are at the mercy of who is there.
