they just said it on the news, flames out of ripsaw falls.

The fire has been put out. The Toon Lagoon area has been evacuated. Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Looks scary

:scared1:

OMG!! that does look scary! I wonder how it happened?

That's the umm...burning question at the moment for Universal officials I'm sure.

From OrlandoUnited, they're reporting that it was started in a boat area, but a non-guest area, so possibly the maintenace bay?

I was thinking of the people on the ride when the fire broke out, I am so glad they were able to evacuate them. I can think of nothing worse than being on a ride and having it take you back into a burning building :scared1: Thankfully the TMs knew what to do and everyone was safe :worship:

More unofficial reports were that some vendor truck caught fire and caused one of the roof sections of Ripsaw Falls to catch on fire.

, um, you want me to get off where?:faint:

I just hope that this doesn't lead to the closure or change of this ride (now that we know there were no injuries). I love it just the way it is.

I was reading the Sentinal article today about it, and I love how they find some of the oddest people to interview..

Somone who was in the HP area, saw the fire, then smelled burning plastic. He then noticed all of the people coming over from Toon Lagoon. Then he stated that even when the ride reopens, he wont ride it because a fire could happen again and now its not safe..

I mean really? really? IOA has been open how long? and there has NEVER been an issue? He didnt even know what caused the fire...LOL..some people...

Would certainly be interested to see what caused it. I'm guessing it won't open for a while. I saw on WESH that there are holes in the roof. They'll be lucky if they get that back open before the spring.

The ride is usually closed for January for annual maintenance. Looks like it will be more than just routine maintenance needed this time!!!
