fire ants!!!!!

i have recently come to florida and these fire ants are killiing me!!! everytime i go outside i get bit by at least one of them. does anyone know what i can use to get rid of them? i have to be careful about what i use because there will be kids playing in the yard. can anyone help!?!?

I'll bump this up for you....I remember reading a thread a few weeks back about this...people gave there ideas to help get rid of them...hopefully they will help again!

I've heard lots of theories - boiling water, grits - what really works is Amdrol - sprinkle the entire yard or wherever you see a hill. Entire yard two or three times a year is by far the best. White vinegar or Benedryl helps with the stinging. (BTW I was severely bitten today.)
