MsDis and I ate at Finnegan's just befor Mardi Gars and what a surprise!!! The menu was much more extensive than i remember. We had the Guinness stew and the Mystic isle mixed grill. Both were really good. There are about 8 other items on that menu that i now want to try. I will have to get a second job to be able to afford Mythos at noon and Finnegans in the evening. You owe it to yourself to check this place out, it use to be good but it is now a really good place to eat. :smooth: :thumbsup2

i ALWAYS eat at finnegan at least 3 times each vacation.

i just hope they haven't screwed up the menu and changed my favorites.

Whew! I was afraid you were going to tell me that they no longer had black and tans! :drinking1

That's just crazy!!!

I had never dined there (had been there at the bar, of course) :drinking: but on the menu they even listed some of the beer "cocktails" like the black and tan and snakebite...I had only heard of the snakebite from someone at the Rose and Crown so it's nice they are putting them on the menu because I never would have thought to try it (if noone had told me about it) and it's quite tasty! :thumbsup2 They have a sampler of beer and a samper of beer cocktails, I think there were 5 of each, and each one was 4oz.

I'd like to go back again to eat, for sure, everything looked pretty good! :cool1:

I am familiar with the snakebites which feature tequila. Is that what you are takling about? What exactly do you mean when you say "beer cocktails"?

Beer "cocktails" are mixtures that have beer as an ingredient (or two) and then something else to give it new "life". I know there are some weird ones out there like beer bloddy mary's and such...a snakebite in this case is Harp or Bass (forgive me, I can NOT remember which, and will forever confuse them! I think Harp though, one I like, one I don't! LOL) and cider. Black and Tan is generally Bass and Guinness, (and a half and half is Harp and Guinness?) I think. I'm NO expert on these mixtures! I know I LOVE cider, but can't drink much of it so the snakebite is a nice mix as cider is SO sweet. I know at the Rose & Crown they would add black currant (sp?) to beer and had names for it too...it would sweeten the ale up a bit.

I'm sure there are others that are more in the "know" on this, but on the menu, it tells you which ones they offer for the sampler and what is in them...I know at least 2 featured guinness. I regret not ordering it now though I'm sure we'll make it a point to next time! :drinking1: Maybe I can then get MIB999999 to get up and do a jig! :dancer: :teeth:

Thank you for the information. My new fav at our local Irish Pub is called a blacksmith. It is half Guinness and half Smithwicks.

Speaking of spicing up beer--over at Margaritaville they are now serving loaded Coronas. It is a shot of lime tequila added to the Corona. Before too long, the Corona is not the only one loaded!

Smithwicks is another Guinness product. It is pronounced "smid-icks" (So don't go in asking for "smith-wicks"

The loaded Corona is too tasty! Had to purchase a bottle of M'ville lime tequila when we got home.
