Finishing college on the internet

Has anyone here finished their degree on the internet? I got my Associates years ago with almost all of my credits for my Bachelors. But with kids and work, I never did finish my degree. Has anyone done this? thanks.

I'm currently going for my bachelor's on the internet. I take some classes exclusively online and some are more guided study where I have to submit assignments via snail mail or email to a mentor and they are graded. There are midterms and finals and about 6 assignments per class. It's a LOT of work, and you really have to be organized and disciplined to do it. I have around 40 more credits left to go, and I have to take some classes at a community college because my school doesn't offer 12 of the classes I need for my degree. I'm actually really looking forward to going to class again - kind of.

I had two coworkers that did the online study with University of Phoenix. They loved the format, it worked well with their full time jobs/pt job working for me.

This doesn't exactly answer your question, but DH and I got our Master's degrees in Geosciences from Mississippi State University using a combination of internet and DVD's. We took 6 hours per semester (fall, spring, summer), and it took two years to finish. We did have to do a field course at the end (9 days).

It worked very well for us. There were people from all over the country enrolled in the program (as well as a few in Europe who were serving in the military).

thanks everyone. I really can't go back to school full time now to finish, but its good to know that it can be done. I keep getting info about the University of Phoenix and will check out Mississippi State too.

I am currently enrolled on-line and it takes a lot of discipline! Our classes are in 9 week blocks...there is no official day off, you have to meet "attendance" requirements. I have a 10 page PowerPoint assignment due on Christmas Day, it is a school day for us. Blocks end on Sunday at midnight, next set of classes start Monday morning. BUT, I love it! I could never attend a physical classsroom with my work schedule. Attendance is required, but as long as it's in by midnight student time, they don't care when you post. I will graduate in February 2007 with an associates degree in business management, whether I go on from there..who knows. This is my first college experience and I wish I would have done this sooner.

I finished my BS through Austin Peay State University online. I already had my Associates. Check with your local colleges and universities and see if they offer classes online.

I'm finishing my Bachelors at Kaplan University. Everyone is right, it takes a lot of discipline to do an online program, you have to budget your time wisely. I went to University of Phoenix also, but like Kaplan's program better, they have "Reading weeks" built into the semesters, one at Mid Term and one at Finals. The professors are great about working with you if you get behind, and the staff is really good about keeping in touch with you. Kaplan also doesn't rely on group projects as heavily as UoP did. Those group projects used to kill me, I'd end up doing all the work the day the project was due with no word from the other group members.

I finished my degree online.

It does take a great degree of self discipline and by all means it is not cheap.

I plan on getting my masters in the same manner.
