So my daughter is beginning to participate in running like her mom. She is starting out with the 5k runs. We have signed up for the ESPN 5k and are considering the Family 5k prior to the Princess Half Marathon. I have noticed that the ESPN 5k indicates a Finisher's Medal, while the Princess Family 5k indicates a Finisher's Medallion. Can anyone tell me the difference? My daughter has seen the medals mom has received in the past and is anxious to earn one herself. I just don't want her to be disappointed with a "medallion.". Thx!

I don't have first hand experience with either, as this will be my first half this weekend. However, from what I've seen, it looks like the medallions are a rubbery type material.
if you go the the run disney site for the Jan. marathon weekend, they have a video section you can click on that will take you to several you tube videos so you can see the difference.

A medal is generally metallic while the medallions are a rubbery plastic material. For many there is a bling factor if it clinks but in all honesty the medallion is just as special. actually in many ways better since it is a lot more colorful. At the end of the day it should really be all about the accomplishment of a goal.

For myself it is all about the accomplishment not the bling. What can I say other than I am a 60 year old animal and bling is just the icing on the cake. :rotfl2:
