Finger tapping

It's been several years since we've been to WDW and to say the least, the finger tapping after scanning our magic bands to enter the park with my 4 year old last time was a challenge. Questions:

1) Is the finger tapping to get in still a thing?
2) If yes, I have no recollection of what fingers we used last time and will be using the same magic bands - do we just inform the cast member as we approach the tapstyle so they can reset the band preemptively or do we just randomly touch fingers until they come over to reset the bands?

Just looking for some advice to streamline the process and not hold up the line as I'm sure others have had the same issues. Thanks.

Yes, you still will scan your finger but it won't matter what finger you used on your last trip, what matters is which finger you use on this trip on the first day you visit the parks. This scan is then tied to that ticket for use and that same finger has to be used for each subsequent park entry.

Those little fingers can be tough to get to read properly. So, parents would have their kids scan their band and then use their own finger on the scanner.

We always had an issue with my youngest! I scanned my finger for him for awhile, but luckily he’s been doing just fine. If there’s any issue, a CM will come over with a tablet and will reset the fingerprint for you, it should work again after that! Good luck!

Yes they still do the biometric finger scan.
Which finger you used last time will not matter as its linked to the ticket media which I assume you'll have new tickets.
Just pick a finger and stick to it.
I ALWAYS use my right middle finger.

Yes, the CMs working encouraged us to do this with our 3 year old! He really wanted to do it himself, and we tried with mixed luck. when it had to be reset on day 3 we switched to my finger.

Even my 7 year old struggled with it, although he did a lot better about remembering which finger he had used than last time.

My then 7 year old struggled as well. After we had to reset on the second day we just used mine to save time.

If you think you WILL be splitting up, I'd have the 4yo scan her own finger.

If that's not possible, then they WILL have to "reset" the finger scan of the different adult each time there is a change.
That can cause a longish delay at the gate.
It would be considerate of other guests if you do not try to enter (with a "different adult")
during a very busy entry time.

I actually have a reason I started using my middle finger.
I think it was in 2007 that they started the place one finger on the scanner (I think it was from 2004 to 2006 that they had the other thing were you put your fingers on and swqueezed which I absolutely could not do and always had to use my other hand to squeeze my fingers together lol) well anyways... right before my June 2007 trip my cat bit my right pointer finger on the top and bottom so I had it bandaged up so I used my middle finger.
Ever since then it has just felt right to use my middle finger. Besides once I had to be finger printed for a job and they could not get a good one of my pointer finger which means my cat probably did permanent damage to my finger print lol.
Only thing that is annoying is when the Mickey head turns blue CM's are always like you're not using the correct finger and I'm like yes I am lol.

We used our right index fingers, I didn't know it mattered. My 5 year old was stopped EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. She's a tiny little thing and we went in December so the CM said maybe she was too cold. Each time they would ask me to rescan and use my finger.
