Finger scan question

We are 5 adults making our first trip back to WDW in 20 years :dancer:. In 2000 the FastPass process was different and there was no finger scan.
We are staying at POFQ. We have ordered our magic bands. I understand the current FastPass system (thanks DIS boards). But what I don't understand and can't find on the boards (at least not easily) is when do they scan your finger for the first time? Do you do this at your hotel? At the entrance to the first park you go to? TIA

The first park you go to. The first time you scan is the finger it's looking for every time, so remember which finger you used first then keep using that one.

There is no finger scan for Fastpasses. You only scan your finger as you enter the park each day. And at some parks, you may not even do that, depending on how early they're letting people in.

It's done the first time you enter a park on a new ticket. The finger scan basically looks at various physical aspects of your finger, uses them to calculate a number and then associates that number with your ticket. Subsequent scans do the calculation again and match it to the stored number.

Hope you have a great trip.

Oh, and by the way. The prices have gone up slightly from 20 years ago . . . be prepared - :smooth:
