Finding restaurants open on Christmas?

The Dkids are spending Christmas with their dad (out-of-state) for the first time ever. My mother and I will spend the day together, along with a family friend, so no one is alone, but none of us wants to cook! I tried a Google search of Syracuse-area restaurants, but am turning up no useful information. Is there anything I can do short of calling each restaurant individually? TIA!

You might look into restaurants at hotels. They may have limited hours--but something will be open for their guests. You might check ahead to see that you will be able to get ino though.

Maybe you can find a Christmas buffet at one.

In my experience, Chinese restaurants are the most likely category to be open on a holiday, followed by pizza delivery places.

This a horrendously un-PC suggestion, but ask your Jewish friends-they'll probably know which restaurants are open (Chinese? Hotel?), and be able to tell you what's good.

I was wondering the same thing. We will be driving back from disney on Christmas Day and I need someplace to stop for our meals.

Not that this would be where you want to stop..

But truck stops with restaurants should be open since the trucking industry doesn't stop on Christmas day.

I seem to recall in previous years that some fast food places do open--just at later times on Christmas DAy.

Of course movie theaters are always open--hot dogs and nachos for dinner? ;)

Just like the Ralphie's family! Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra Ra! :lmao:
Chinese turkey. :rotfl:

I would also suggest hotels - some have great food.

This is a horrible story - Xmas 1993 we discovered our beloved 6 year old cat dead on the sofa across from the xmas tree on xmas morning (we think it was an accidental poisoning - he'd eaten a cockroach the day before that was probably full of poison). Needless to say, I wasn't much in the mood to cook (I could barely eat). My husband and I took a walk and there was a local indian restaurant open for dinner that we wound up at.

Well...there's always Denney's!!! :lmao:

Seriously....go to a nice hotel restaurant. I was a flight attendant for 8 years...they have some pretty nice spreads at some hotels...I certainly ate at enough of them.

Saw a sign this morning (while eating there) that our local Hardee's will be open Christmas Day until 8pm. I believe thats a first for our little town. Usually only Chinese open here.

Thanks! Hotels would be a great place to start looking, and I'll go from there. I haven't been to Varsity on the Hill, so I appreciate the specific suggestion as well. :)

We have many many restaurants open around here on Christmas Day. If we are not going to relatives we usually will eat out on Thanksgiving, Easter and Christmas and we never have a problem finding a restaurant to eat at. Just call some of your nicer local restaurants and ask if they are open.

Varsity for Christmas dinner. Oh, that's just freaking priceless!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

(But I don't think they'll be open for Christmas.)

I'll bet the Sheraton on teh Hill will be serving a nice Christmas dinner. I'd probably check there first.

Hotel dining rooms should be open and will most likely be serving a holiday meal.

It's true!!! Chinese food on xmas is a tradition for us!

I wish I could find the video to the remake Save Ferris did of The Waitresses Christmas Wrapping.
