We have never been on the subs when they were 20,000 leagues under the sea but not Finding Nemo. I have read that there are always long lines on this. We are only going to be touring DL one day so when is the best time to ride this ride. Thanks, any advice is appreciated. :)

The "redo" on this ride is pretty neat. When are the lines the best?...maybe first thing in the morning. Grab a Fastpass then head to Nemo. The sub expierence really adds to the excitement of this attraction, but there is an alternate experience. Nemo has a room that is decorated like a locker room with a screen to watch the expierence from this remote locker. There are benches and it is accessible to guests in wheelchairs. I have arrived at Nemo many times and went right in to the alternate expierence many times with no line wait. :tink:

early in the day is best time. the long lines have much to do with the loading & how many passengers per hour can be run through the attraction.

matterhorn is another one that will develop long lines.

First thing otherwise its at least an hour wait the rest of the day. The only bad thing about doing it first is you going to miss Fantasyland being wide open at rope drop. We love hitting rope drop or Magic Morning and riding 10 rides without waiting in Fantasyland (Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, Mr Toad, Snow White, Tea cups, Storybook Canal, Casey Jr, ISAM, Carousel, and then make our way to either Subs or Spash!

So how long do you wait at the subs when you follow this plan?

I've had good luck with a wait well under 30 minutes later in the evening, and if it's a Friday-Sunday you get the bonus of being able to listen to the band playing at Tomorrowland Terrace while you wait.

That said, one night I went over there Nemo was closed (!)...like any ride, it can have downtime. So if it's an absolute must-visit (and it sounds like it is for you), I'd follow KCmike's plan. Note that if you're going on a Magic Morning day, the most popular rides at Fantasyland may have a line already (particularly Peter Pan and maybe Dumbo). We went once in the morning (after doing some other things for probably an hour or more, though it was not a terribly busy day) and the wait for Nemo was still under 20 minutes if I recall correctly.

Have a great trip!

WOAH! Back the truck up! Seriously? My mom is in a walking boot and may need a wheel chair for our upcoming trip as stairs are almost impossible. She would have issues getting into the submarine. She loves the nemo ride and will be happy to hear this. Where about's is this room?

Tell the cm that your party can't do stairs and you would like to do the alternate viewing, its called the Observation Outpost.

this is from the disneyland website

The Alternate Show On Shore

Film fans won't want to miss the familiar seagulls perched on the red buoy tethered to the seafloor as they clamor, "Mine! Mine! Mine!" And for those unable to negotiate the steps down into the hatch or who simply wish to stay ashore, enter the Observation Outpost at the end of the dock. Manned by a member of the N.E.M.O. Institute, this facility offers a high-definition video version of the voyage via onboard "SubCam."

Wheelchair Access: Enter through the standard queue. An accessible experience is available where Guests may remain in their wheelchair or Electric Convenience Vehicle.

You're coming from Long Island? Have you visited in the past 20 years? Any newbies to DL? (how old are they?)

And Only ONE day???!!!

If this is a once in a decade visit to DLR, you should plan for 4 days minimum (but that's a different topic :)).....so let's assume you only have one day. Doing Nemo "first thing" would wipe out 45 - 55 min. of VALUABLE early morning touring & FP collecting time (as KC Mike mentioned).....time in which you could ride 6-9 fantasyland rides (4-5 not available at WDW).

If you had to ride it, do it in the mid-late afternoon when you need a rest anyways (& possibly when a parade is running?), or get in line at 3 minutes before closing time.

But with only one day at DL (or DL & DCA), I'd dump it off the to do list altogether. I know others like it.....but would they invest 8-10% of THEIR ENTIRE VISIT AT DLR dedicated to this fairly lame ride? It's a time eater & (imo) in the bottom 10% of DL rides & attractions.

If it was a relative of mine coming for one day, I'm recommend that they dump it. (& I'd be asking them why only ONE day at DLR??)

:)

I recommend doing it at night - midweek if possible. We only waited 10 minutes at 10 pm this past Wednesday night.

We have been here a few times and are coming in for a Wedding. My sister lives in Ca. This is one ride we have never been on. It is just my DH,Sis, her DH and me. No kids (They have to get home. LOL). We will be spending one day in CA and one day in DL. I'm thinking we will save this for the end of the night when the crowds die down. Thanks

Sounds like a good plan (especially if you have two days). Have a great time. :thumbsup2

In my opinion, if you are going to ride Nemo at any time other than first thing, the best time is the absolute last thing at the end of the night.

When the Park closes, if you are already in line for an attraction, you get to ride. So, get in line for Nemo 10 minutes (just to be safe) prior to Park closing. It may not be the shortest then, but you are standing in line while you can't do anything else except shop on Main Street. That's when I want to be in line, not when I could be doing other things.

Would this also be good for someone who can't deal with closed in spaces? ((shudder))

So how long do you wait at the subs when you follow this plan?

If you skip a few Fantasyland rides you can find it somewhere between 30-45 minutes. All bets are off this summer. It's going to be nuts!

Well I doubt Nemo hardly ever gets to an hour wait these days unless the park is REALLY busy! I think the average on a busy day is 30-45 mins normally. Of course it can be more, but I dont see that busy these days.

And yeah, if you go at night, it usually is a lot less lines. Like everything, it will depend on the day, season, etc, but normally even if you go at night it will be less than the day time.

And someone else mentioned it, you can always jump in at the very end of the night before the park closes. That will usually be 15 mins at best unless the park is slammed.
