"Finding Nemo--The Musical," will be replacing Tarzan rocks at Animal Kingdom opening later this year. Also a new Finding Nemo show/ride will open at Living Seas in Epcot. "The undersea voyage begins aboard "clamobiles" in a colorful coral reef setting." The Seas with Nemo & Friends will open in Fall 2006 at Epcot at The Living Seas pavilion. I hope the new Nemo show will be up and running by the end of Nov - DGrD (2.5) and I would LOVE to see it on our 'Oma/DGrD girls only' trip !! :smooth:

How exactly does Nemo fit in w/ the theme in that section of AK? And since when did Nemo become a musical?

I liked this line from the article:

It will bring the undersea world that charmed audiences in the Disney presentation of the Pixar Animation Studios film "Finding Nemo" to life in an all-new stage spectacular featuring original songs by Tony Award-winning "Avenue Q" composer Robert Lopez and a cappella musical "Along the Way" composer Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

This gives me some hope.... Avenue Q is a great (and hilarious) musical, and I think the music style would fit in very well with a Finding Nemo show. Well, the music style, anyway-- I'm sure the lyrics for these songs will be much more family-friendly than Avenue Q's lyrics. :lmao:

When I saw Avenue Q--I had to read it again! The songs are very catchy, hopefully the ones for the Nemo show will be as well--I'm sure they will clean up the language for a Disney show--though my mind is making me laugh at the vulgar possibilities :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: . Recomposing self...I do wish they would have come up with something that has a better AK fit!

I am keeping my fingers crossed that these two new attractions will be open late October when we go! My two kids are HUGE Nemo fans!!

The same way TARZAN fit with Dinosaurs.

And the "Festival of the Lion King" fits with Camp Minnie Mickey.

:rotfl2:

I hope these are done by the middle of October. It's probably wishful thinking but my son absolutely LOVES Nemo.

I'll be watching for updates as to when they think these attractions will go live.

Do the people making these theme park decisions even know what the movies are about? It seems more like we have an empty theater, let's pick a Disney/PIXAR movie out of our hat!! I was surprised by the "The Musical" part also, did they hear some songs that the audience didn't? At least it's not Treasure Planet - The Musical...

My youngest DS will be thrilled! He's watched Finding Nemo 47 times in the past 4 weeks! (well, not in entirety- he's almost 2, and won't sit still for the whole thing). Can't wait to hear what type of music they'll compose. Hope they don't use Caribbean or Calypso-type music. Wouldn't befit a movie that took place off the coast of Australia...

I'm not too sure that I'd be interested in watching a Finding Nemo themed musical, but the ride at Living Seas sounds interesting..

Haha. I have all of the Avenue Q songs on my iPod. That show is great. Hopefully Nemo won't curse too much! :rotfl2:

From what the rumors are, this is basically a "re-opening" of what used to be the "Seacabs" at the Living Seas.
DISers following the LS rehab have been expecting an annoucement along these lines for awhile.

For those of us that remember the original attraction from a few years ago, its just a quiet, slow (and short) "open tram" trip through a glassed-in aquarium area.

Not sure why they stopped using the original Seacabs in the first place.

It was one of the "steps" that you took in the trip from the outside of the LS building, finally coming "down" to Seabase Alpha (the main observation area of LS.)

I'm happy that they'll be using the rest of the Living Seas again, I miss that! Thanks for the heads up.

They do have a nemo ride in Tokyo Disney that sounds similar to the ride they are describing. You can look at the Tokyo Disney web site to find a photo. My brother lives in Japan and his two very young sons loved this ride, but he said it would be boring for the older kids (i.e. him :) )
