Find me a super cheap room nearby

I'm preparing a presentation on planning a Disney vacation. I want a real example of a super budget option for where to stay. Can anyone suggest a motel that isn't a total drug and bug-infested sleaze place where people on a really tight budget could actually stay and feel reasonably safe while spending as little as possible? I know that in the past, we've stayed at places like Days Inn or EconoLodge for prices in the range of $30/night but it has been a number of years since we went that route. Are those places still around?

Good idea. I hadn't thought of Priceline. I'll add that to my talk.

Now what about specific places for people (like me) who want to know where they will actually be rather than taking a chance with Priceline?

Bookit.com has the Clarion LBV on sale for $45 a night & it's a really nice place for the money. Very clean, remodeled rooms, close to the parks, 24 hour security. Stayed there in November & would definitely do it again for that price.

That's where sites like lastminutetravel, easyclicktravel, quikbook, hotelkingdom, travelzoo, hotels.com or .ca, come into play.

Cancellation policies will differ, and there are many more besides. They will all show you the actual hotel you're booking.

Thing with the cheapie hotels is that the names change quite frequently...so back up your choices with a qucik check on a review site like tripadvisor. Again, like everything on the great big web, do your due diligence, and take the reviews with a grain of salt.

When folks are booking airfare, train transportation, sometimes the tie ins with the airlines for hotels and car rentals are really budget friendly as well.

Travelodge Suites Eastgate Orange was $44.95 per night in January including breakfast. Cereals, toast, muffins, some fruit, juice, coffee tea. The rooms are clean, new beds this year and will sleep six with the sofa bed. Each room has micro/fridge, free wifi and is of a good size. The staff is friendly and many have worked there for a long time.

How about www.lastminutetravel.com? Pick out and choose the hotel you may want to stay at. At the top of the page in the URL is a hotel ID #. Copy this number and put it into the following website:

--replace the hotel ID there with the one that you want. This will show you what you will be getting. If you like it, book it. If not, try another one.

We reserved our room from ramada for the Ramada maingate kissime, its about a mile off Disney property for 6 nights at a total of $211.24 its pretty basic hotel not many extras but we seem to enjoy it. We stayed there last year for 6 nights and when I gave my DD the choice this year she wanted the same hotel.

We just got back from WDW. We spent 3 hours looking at rooms in many hotels in the $30-$50 range. All but 2 were disgusting! We ended up on I92/International Drive. We stayed at the Travel Lodge (exit 64 I think) behind the big "orange". We had a coupon from the room saver book $39.99 and it only had a $1 resort fee. Many of the other places had high hidden fees. The room was big, clean, micro/fridge, shuttle & free basic continental breakfast. There is an outside heated pool & hot tub and a laundry room. Hope this helps I wish I had seen a post like this and had saved 3 hours. I would not buy sight unseen off price-line. there were some real dumps out there. Ask to see a room before renting thats what we did.
