I've not been around much recently.....I havent really felt very "disney" of late, because at the end of last year, my dad (or rather father in law, whos more of a dad to me than my real one!) went to the doctors as he had been passing blood for some time. It turned out he had a Colon tumor (well a couple of them), which from a sample taken by a colonoscopy, turned out to be malignant. There then followed weeks of delays and cancelations before he actualy got the surgery to remove it, which isnt good with any Cancer. He had the surgery in December, a pretty intensive procedure where he was effectivley gutted down the middle !. Since then ive lived in fear of the kids jumping on him, like kids do.
It wasnt looking good for our family Orlando holiday in March/April really, as if the in-laws werent going, we couldnt have afforded to go without their share of the car/villa etc.
Today however, he has met with the surgeon for the post op results, and although the tumor had broken the colon wall, all of the biopsies taken from that area, and of 25 lymph nodes, have come back clear, so as far as the Surgeon is concerned he is completely cured, and can go back to work whenever he feels physicaly ready. He now has to see an Oncologist this afternoon for a second opinion, but he will be looking at the same results that say all clear, so there is no reason he could say anything different.
Needless to say we are rather pleased about this, and he has been extremely lucky it hadnt advanced out of control.
Whatsmore, his friends at work had a whip-round for him a couple of weeks back and they raised £1800 !
So the holday is still on !
