Finally - we get to go back!

Dh dropped a bombshell the other day, and I am just walking on air! I'm so excited, which is kinda pathetic, cause the kids are just sort of excited, and I'm "tossing in my bed unable to sleep at night" excited! Who's the real kid, here?

Anyway, brief history, since I've been lurking for what seems like forever, but haven't posted.
Dh got laid off almost a year ago, right in the middle of my "spring trip planning" season. Our trip to DL was not an option, it was a requirement, but then the paycheques stopped (I'm a SAHM), and travel of any kind became an impossibility. Since then, dh has been swimming upstream in the murky river of Owning My Own Business, and trying to make a go of it. Strict budgets and penny pinching have become a way of life for us now. So when he came home the other day saying he'd closed a big deal and gotten PAID, we almost didn't believe him! Suddenly, now vacations are an option, and on the agenda is a Feb trip to All Inclusive land, as well as a springtime trip to DL!!
So now I have a whole lotta catching up to do - we haven't been to DL since our first time in 2008, and I feel so out of the loop! Anything I need to know? What have I missed in the last 2 years?

What delightful financial and emotional news! Being on a better financial footing is so wonderful and Disneyland on top of that is beyond amazing. Well, what has happened...

California Adventure is under a major park wide refurb and so there is lot so "construction" stuff with which to contend.

The parking lot situation is dire, so when you come stay close enough to walk or where they have a shuttle you do NOT want to have to park at Disney.

Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln is getting ready to reopen.

On the unchanged side, the Dole Whips are still glorious.

How exciting!

In addition to the things mentioned above, these are also new:
-Sleeping Beauty's Castle Walkthrough reopened
-I don't know if you were there for Toy Story Midway Mania, cause that opened in summer 08
-Mickey's Fun Wheel has taken over the Sun Wheel
-If you go in April or later, DCA's new World of Color show should be running, and it's gonna be a really great one by the looks of things

Also crowd patterns have changed dramatically in the past year because of the huge number of AP holders. Now Saturdays are one of the least crowded days because a lot of AP holders are blocked out, so they don't come to the parks. That's how many AP holders there are...to actually influence the crowds that much.
-Also the Orange Stinger will have been transformed into Silly Symphony Swings

One thing about a spring trip:

ROA will be drained from January to May. So no TSI, canoes, Mark Twain and most importantly no F! (until most likely June).

However the new World of Color show at DCA will be open at the end of April.
