After being engaged for awhile now and being an active reader of The Dis- Weddings and Honeymoons, I thought I would get the ball rolling so I can start planning, so I finally became a member of The Dis.

So I'm wondering now, if I was to get married in City Hall this year and hopefully get married at Disney next year, would the Disney wedding be considered a Vow Renewal then?

It doesn't have to, we were married on June 29, 2007 and we are having our "Wedding" at Disney and we are not calling it a vow renewal. Anyways, I consider a vow renewal when a couple has been married for 10 or more years. In civil union I opted not to exchange or say any vowels because I wanted to leave it for our actually wedding celebration.

So call it what you want, remember it's your wedding not Disney's.

Hope this helps!:thumbsup2

You can certainly call your celebration whatever you want, but Disney does make one distinction between weddings and vow renewals, and that is how they handle the license. Just make sure your planner knows you're already married so he or she isn't wondering where your license to marry is on the big day. :)

Congratulations and welcome to the boards! :hippie:

Our Disney Wedding was technicaly a vow renewal as we were married ealier at city hall in NYC. I like to liken it that experience to getting your drivers license! :rotfl:

I refer to the city hall thing as when we got married, but Disney was our wedding!:goodvibes

Our planner Tanis and Rosie who does the floral, entertainment and photo coordination for Escape brides knew (and of course so did Rev. Miller) but never once did they refer to it as a vow renewal. They all knew this was our wedding, not a renewal of vows that we said in about 30 seconds without DH's family even there!

In fact, we are planning on doing a vow renewal, maybe even 2! One at 5 years and one at 10! simply because our Disney wedding was the most amazing experience ever.

Good luck to you! If you read through a bit of my PJ/TR, you can see our civil ceremony at city hall and I'm just about to get to our Diisney wedding experience...

HTH!:goodvibes
