After 42 long hours, we finally have power again at our house (it came back on at 11:15 this morning). I know it isn't long compared to the amount of time the folks to the south of Jacksonville will be without power. The most frustrating part of the whole ordeal, is that there were no power lines down in our neighborhood. The only answer JEA (electric company) would give is that we are working on the problem. I am just so thankful to have power. No sleep since Sunday night, due to the heat and humidity inside the house. At one point it was 85 in the house and 75 outside. Thankfully, my boss was understanding this morning and told me to stay home when I told him that I was still sitting in the dark.

I'm glad you're power is back. I'm still anxiously waiting to hear from my mom who's in Leesburg. We last heard from her Sunday night and there was some minor damage at that point. The phones are still out but I read on another post that Bell South hopes to have lines restored by tomorrow. My mom's a young 75 and in good health but the heat etc has me worried.

I'm in the same boat as CEDmom. My parents are in Dunnellon and their power had just gone off when I spoke to them around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. I just don't have any idea how long this "blackout" is going to last. So I know that they're OK but I sure hope the power is back on soon so they can call.
