I think this is a GENIOUS idea and wish I would have thought of it first. Anyway, I have just completed my application and am now the proud owner of my first purple bin. I am posting this here because I know there are tons of DVC'ers out there that have one. So, my question.... WHAT DO IT PUT IN IT now that I have it:confused3 I can think of a few practical things off the top of my head but I KNOW you Disers have more ideas out there. Please share! Thanks!!!:thumbsup2

(my list is on page 2 - lots of great ideas in the whole thread!)

This reminds me I haven't updated my inventory from our trip a couple of weeks ago...must do that soon...

ENJOY your Locker! It's an awesome service run by awesome people and we don't every want to be without our purple boxes!

Shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, laptop computer, small umbrellas, rain ponchos, hair brushes, microwavable popcorn, diapers, baby bottles, batteries, medications in case an unexpected sickness takes place during our vacation, sunglasses, laundry detergent, hairdryer, nail clippers, tweezers, razor, etc. Keeping these items in our Owners Locker makes packing for a Disney vacation quick. Since there is much less to bring with us on vacation, we typically just travel with "carry on" luggage to make our trips through the airport more efficient. We also save money on airfare because we no longer have to pay a "checked baggage" fee.

I just boght mine this weekend too! I am going Friday and will fill it. We have all the usual stuff like toiletries for both hubby and I and our kids. I also put a set of camera batteries, SPlenda packets, three framed family photos(yes i am a sentimental fool), all of my hair products, band aids, tylenol, etc. Oh and we are going to buy two Disney coffee mugs for hubby and i as we like BIG cups of coffee to start our day and we will leave them in there too.

This trip is just hubby and I but Labor Day trip will have all the kids and so it will be nice to pack them all up with just clothes and GO!

We store A LOT: ponchos, umbrellas, spray fan bottles, lanyards, extra batteries, 2 backpacks, a smaller pool bag for quickie trips to the pool and a larger beach bag (that we use for the water parks), 2 collapsible coolers, blue ice, ice cube tray, flip flops, night light, sharp scissors, scotch tape, packing tape, glue, rubber bands & safety pins, a set of sharp knives (we use studios so there are none provided), coffee filters & scoop, extra plastic silverware, paper plates & plastic storage bowls with lids for leftovers or cereal (again, we use studios so we need them), Captain Morgan, unopened wine, wine glass, can & bottle huggies (or cozies some ppl call them), plastic cups for the pool, straws, assorted sizes of Zip Lock bags, ALL toiletries for all of us, shave mirror for DH, razors, Q-tips, moisturizers, manicure set, first aid supplies including Neosporin, moleskin & blister block, assorted OTC meds like Advil, Advil Cold & Sinus, Benadryl, Immodium, Aleve, Gas-X, various SPF sunscreens (usually keep 2 ea. of an 8, 15 & 30 + face stuff), Purell, Clorox wipes, Lysol, Air Freshner for the bathroom:rolleyes1, a few tealight candles & a couple sm. flashlights (just in case we're ever there during a storm where the power goes out), hats & visors and goodness knows what else!! My inventory list has about 120 items on it!!! I keep track of expiration dates if they apply on my inventory list so I know when something needs to be replaced.

You will LOVE the convenience of being able to just pack a few clothes & go!! If we have 2 trips planned that are relatively close to each other I sometimes will leave (unopened) packages of crackers or snacks or waters (IF they fit)!! I have to sit on the lid while DH applies the zip ties in order to get it locked back up now!! :thumbsup2

It looks like everyone has given you great tips on what to pack in your OL.
I just wanted to say we love our OL and I know you will too!

Can I briefly hijack your thread to ask people what they did when they FIRST filled up their locker? Did you ship all of the "stuff" down there in a box via UPS or something, and if so, how far ahead did you do it? Did you just label it with your name c/o the resort name? Do they store it at Bell Services if it gets there several days before you?

I can't decide if I'd rather do that, or just bring it in a separate suitcase and pay for the baggage fee the first time...

If you bring all your owners locker stuff in your checked luggage, you'll have lots of room to bring home souveniers! :)
I also keep a folded up carry on in my owners locker in case I need more room for stuff going home. ;)
If you're doing a studio, definitely bring sharp knives, regular flatware and maybe even some bowls, or gladware containers. I hate eating off those paper bowls w/ plastic flatware for a week. Those plastic knives don't cut anything.

I did a few different things:
1. We sent a box of stuff down via ground shipping. Label the box with your name and check-in date. They will store it for you and deliver it to your room at your request.
2. I brought some items in a checked suitcase.
3. I bought some items while I was in Orlando.

I'd say:
75% of our PB items we bought at a Walmart (we stopped at one near the Orlando airport before we checked in)
25% of our PB items came from home (i.e. brought with us in our suitcases)

Oh and I should add there were a few non-perishable items we had left over from our Garden Grocer delivery that I stored as well! Love OL! :thumbsup2

I shipped a 45 Lb box of stuff via UPS on Monday...it arrived on Wed. and we went down on Friday. I wanted to begin traveling in carry-ons only starting with that trip so I wouldn't have to check any luggage or bring any home and we did!!!:goodvibes (We often use Air Tran which charges for checked bags.) We were staying at SSR so I just addressed it to myself c/o SSR with their street address. Per their request at the resort I also noted off to the side our res. # and arrival date so they'd know to store it for a couple days with bell services. They ask that you put the name of the person who is on the ressie. So if it's in your DH's name use his name. Then when you pick it up just tell them how it was sent & who's name is on it & when it arrived. If you use UPS Ground you can track it & see who signs for it. Generally takes 2-3 days from most of the mid-Atlantic states anyway.

12 yr old single malt scotch and a fan. That about covers the bare necessities:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Haha! These are GREAT! I already have a very long list. I am so excited to be a part of the OL family. Seems like everyone LOVES it very much. Never heard a bad thing!

WDW rain ponchos
umbrella
toiletries for all family members
contact lens case/solution
flat iron
scissors
ziploc bags, 1 gal. and 1 qt. sizes
Ibuprofen for adults and kids
beach towels
blender (not kidding, good for smoothies and margaritas-which in all honesty we never made on our last trip)
wine bottle opener (I didn't find one in our DVC Villa, surprisingly. However, the front desk will bring you one that looks like it takes a lot of strength to use, and could easily break. So, I packed a sturdier one).
bleach based spray cleaner (I have a problem, I know).
Lanyard and pouch holder for me
other stuff I've forgotten

:) I joined last month. DH thinks I am crazy, but he will worship the box with me....Oh yes, he will....... mawhaaahaaaha :worship:
