Hi again guys!!!:thumbsup2

Well after spending the last few weeks choosing - I have finally bought a contract iphone 4!!!:yay:

Having just brought it home I am now fretting about whether I am going to break or lose it!!! As I have mentioned before, I have never really been interested in mobile phones, but I need one for my new job and I am really worried that as I am not used to having one that I am going to forget it and leave it somewhere!!!:scared1:

So..... my question is - should I have insurance??? :confused3They mentioned £13 a month to insure it through carphone warehouse - does that sound a reasonable amount???

Many thanks for any help as usual!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Check if you are covered under your household policy before you sped on a mobile insurance.
I had mobile insurance for years and I read last year that many home policys would cover you for loss theft or accidental damage and sure enough we had all the right things on our home policy !!

From memory you have to have accidental damage cover and possesions away from the home but for the price of a phone call its worth checking out before spending anymore money on insurance!!

Hi!

My opinion in a nutshell: GET INSURANCE!!

I have an iPhone 4 too, and you'll often find that insurance for iPhones is a tad more pricey. I bought my phone with carphone warehouse but I declined their insurance. I have insured my iPhone (along with my laptop) with "protect my bubble". I can't remember how much exactly I am paying, but it's definitely cheaper than what I was quoted at the phone shop.

Not only will this cover you as you say for losing it or breaking it, insurance will also cover you for theft. And as an iPhone is one of the most desirable phones around, it is something that you should give a thought to. We all like to think it won't happen to us, but a couple of months ago my iPhone was stolen from right out of my bag. When this happens to your smartphone it's devastating - I myself, felt like I had my whole life on my iPhone and was gutted when it had gone. And I'm just thankful to have had insurance - at the time, a new iPhone would have cost me £500 and just didn't gave that sort of money.

So... get insurance :) There's lots of alternatives to that offered by the shop. Have you checked your home insurance - as sometimes you may already be covered for theft of a mobile on there or you can just add it on... When I lived with my parents it was covered under their home insurance, but now I'm in my student digs I no longer have that privilege :)

HTH!!

Our are covered through our household insurance too.

I would be lost without my iphone, I know it sounds sad but I can't imagine life without it, just so convenient to look things up and get info when you are out and about! ;)

I'll be honest, I've NEVER taken out mobile phone insurance. I did think about it for my current iPhone 3GS but I just couldn't justify the cost, I've never lost a phone or broken one yet *touch wood* (Just jinxed myself haven't I) I would have possibly taken it out if it weren't for the extremely high cost. I pay £45 a month for my iPhone, I'm not paying another £10-£20 a month on top of that for insurance.

However, there was a post on HUKD the other day for mobile phone/iPhone insurance which I've bookmarked as my 3GS contract is up soon and I'll be upgrading to the 4 (or possibly waiting for the 5, I can't decide!) and due to the price of these policies I'd happily take one out. This is the thread on HUKD and there's quite a few bad reviews in the comments but I'll definitely review it when I upgrade in a few months. Never used them so can't say anything about them myself but their prices do seem good (maybe too good!).

I'll be honest, I've NEVER taken out mobile phone insurance.

Before my iPhone, I had never, ever ever taken out mobile insurance either. But after realising the actual cost of an iPhone, and owing to how much I rely on it, I just couldn't go without it :(

I have always been very careful with anything pricey, and never misplace things (I'm like a hawk), but if you're out and someone has their eye on that iPhone....I just dread to think!

If I didn't have insurance when my phone got stolen, I would have been well and truly scr*wed. I'm glad I listened to my Dad's advice for a change :rotfl:

I know o2 and CW usually charge £30-35 per quarter rather than month from what i remember. They cover accidental damage and the battery dying as well so it is worth it (in my oppinion that is)

If you bank with lloyds and have a silver account, that includes phone insurance. And considering it's only £7.99 a month for the account it is cheaper than seperate insurance!

thanks every so much everyone:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I am definitely going to get it sorted tonight (I spent last night 'playing' with my phone so didn't get round to it!!!:goodvibes)

Steve is going to ring our insurance company and find out whether it is covered through that, otherwise we will take it out seperately:thumbsup2

Thanks so much for all of your advice - that was a big help!!:lovestruc
