After being a DVC member for a while I just finally went to the T.U.G. website.

There is a wealth of information on there. I wish I would have put in a direct trade instead of going with II.

Do many of you use T.U.G. as a direct trade? What were your results?

Thanks everyone for telling me about T.U.G! You guys are the greatest!

Hi, Deb -

I've been enjoying TUG for years and from it have learned a great deal -- most especially regarding RCI/II. Similar to the threads here about wanting more credits ... learning more has only caused me to want greater diversity in my vacation options. ;)

I have tried direct exchanges ... but w/out much luck yet. It seems to me that finding exchanges in "pairs" (party A wants what party B owns and vice versa) is a very uncommon match. I'm increasingly impressed by the services offered by exchange companies allowing party A to book what party B owns ... giving party B a week from party C ... and so on.

I'll keep trying direct ... while also enjoying all available routes to my destinations! :)

Direct trades and II aren't the only options. There are also a number of independant trading services that you can use. Depending on which service you use, you might be able to trade a small DVC unit for a larger non-DVC one, or an off-season DVC unit for a peak season non-DVC one.

However, since DVC units are so valuable, I wouldn't give my unit to a trading company unless they already had a unit I wanted to trade for. Some services will let you put in a request, and then give them your unit after they find what you want.

I think the most cost-effective option is just to rent out your DVC points, and use the money to rent a unit that you want. However, this can involve a lot of work.
