Finally get a PIN, But....

It was sent to me for a different person! Another friend booked a trip for a bunch of us when we did Expedition Everest Challenge last year. She used my e-mailas the main e-mail since I was the "Disney person" and took care of everything except booking the rooms.

Now I get a 40% off code e-mail and it says, "for the Neese family" instead of MY family!!

Oh well, I can't afford to buy tickets right now anyway...

That happened to me and I called and got the discount anyway!

Basically what happened is this:

Disney took the name of every person at my address who has travelled to WDW at some point, and grouped everyone under my email address. They sent me a 40% of PIN and when I called they asked for all my info, I said my name was Alison and the CM said "this offer is for Stephanie..." I was like that's my sister and I promise you, she will not be going back to WDW! So she kind of argued with me about it for a minute and I said to "look, my boyfriend and I come down to WDW every year. In 2006 we were there twice. Money is tight for everyone and we really weren't sure if we were going to be able to afford to come this year...so you can give me the PIN discount (since it's not my fault that you have my sister's name under my email address) and get SOME money, or you can not give me the code and not get ANY money because we won't be able to afford it."

She put me on hold, spoke with her "manager", came back on the line and said she would give me the discount. Of course, now I can't get free dining because the 40% discount was room only so that's what we booked... and Free Dining can only be added to a Package... but we are still making out like bandits on the room so it's worth it!

ooohhh - that is good to know! I thought they were super strict about it. Too bad I can't make use of it now. Our annual passes ran out and we can't get new ones until at least Christmas time. Oh well - we'll get back there!!

Nobody knows. We had been going a few times a year for about three years and still have never received one by e-mail or regular mail. One time I asked a CM on the phone if I had one and she said that I did have one but it had just run out! That's why I thought it was so funny that I finally get one and it is not even for me!

I forwarded it to the family it was for and they aren't going again this year either, what a waste of a good code!!

I've been told that you should just sign up for everything Disney related.

That being said, I have been to WDW 7 times. This October will be my 8th trip.

My sister has gone twice.

One of those times, we didn't even stay on property.

They took the names of everyone at the same address, combined them all under my email address (which they got when I booked my first 4 trips), and sent my sister a PIN.

Maybe they base it on a target demographic....like they offer PIN codes to people who have stayed at certain resorts that fall within a certain age range or something? And then base it on the last time you visited? The last trip my sister took to WDW was 2004. We got the PIN in 2009. Meanwhile, I have been every year since 2004.
