Finally found Simon

We found Simon in the little Scotland and Wales shop and he was talkin to an American. We could tell straight away – coz we earwigged –that he loves his job out here as the enthusiasm was plain to see in his manner and voice. This American had more questions than Chris Tarrant and it was clear he was in for the afty. He asked about accommodation in England and accommodation in Scotland. The transport system in both countries – sorry Wales, he didn’t seem bothered about you – but maybe that came in his second hour!
Anyway me and V walked round the shop, waitin for him to go, so we could pounce on the poor ‘adopted’ Board CM and the American blokey just kept goin and goin.
I nearly butted in to ask if we could get a quick picture and get on with our lives

“Excuse me Sir, we’re only here for two weeks, would you mind…….?”

But Simon was bein so polite- and answerin everything the Guy threw at him with charm and genuine interest – we didn’t like to embarrass the Lad – yet! So I got a picture of the Fella(with Simon) to prove just how ‘bedded in‘ he was and went for me tax free beer in Morocco. ............

........It was nearly time to go meet the kids so we went back to Simon’s little shop, hopin he hadn’t gone for his bait.
He hadn’t, but had another customer askin him all sorts of questions – the Lad must be worn out by the end of his day.
So waited till he was free and swooped afore anyone else could get in.

“Simon, I’m Dave and this is Valerie. We’ve come to take yer picture!”

He looked stunned(ish) – “wot no questions?”
Carolyn had warned him we were comin, so he was prepared(ish).
We had a nice little chat – had to rush to meet the kids and his little shop was busy – took his picture with V and fled.

Carolyn, yer’ve got a lovely lad there – but yer know that – it was a pleasure standin watchin him work. He has a natural charm and enthusiasm about him and is so confident and good with people –he’ll go far I’m sure.

Dave your mini report is so sweet, and also made me laugh so much. How you can phrase things so humourously never ceases to amaze me. I am glad that Simon was still trying hard to please, because he is nearing the endish of his contract now, but I know that he still loves every minute of working for Disney and considers it an honour to meet people and represent the company and the UK. He says that it has been without doubt the best year of his life, although being just 19yrs it is early days!!LOL I did tell him that you were all coming and I really hoped that you would get a chance to meet up. I love it when he can put faces to names for me so to speak. Thanks again for stopping by and for all your kind words. Carolyn

Carolyn - when does his contract end? We met him last October, but didn't think to take a picture. I was hoping we could say hi again in May.

If he's not in one of his little shops, look for a lass called Tam in Canada. Simon'll not be far away!

(We threatened to go get her picture for the board too, but didn't have time - much to Simon's relief)

We met Simon on our recent trip when he was manning the Kidcot station in the UK pavillion. He was great with our two girls and had them guessing where in England he came from.

I didn't realise he was yours Carolyn. I'm sorry now that I called him a 'soft southern jessie'

So glad you and V are having a good time! I just got back this week and looked all over in UK for Simon with no luck

We're going back in May and maybe somehow we'll find him then!

I'm glad you got to meet him, Simon is a very nice young man and a lot of fun to be around.
Carolyn , so far this has been Simon's best year of his life but although another year may come up and be better than this one, I don't think he will ever forget some moments of this one.
He can never forget his Drink Around The World with all of us DISers

He will never forget Kimonos and how we corrupted him

He will never forget the oddysey to get to the Adventurers Club in Pleasure Island and the three crazy people that went with him.

And then again....how can he forget the crazy lady who showed up at the store with a card ready to be mailed for grandma but just needed him to write a few lines??

It was a pleasure to meet him and spend time with him!

Ah Olga you are very kind about him. I know how much he has enjoyed meeting all the Disers' and how much fun he has had with them. Those memories will stay with him forever. Carolyn

Sheesh! Some of you guys aren't trying hard enough to find him!

Last trip we were only there 3 days - we stopped by on the Friday night and we couldn't find him so we got chatting to another CM explaining how we knew him, were looking for him, but how Simon didn't know we'd be there. So the CM <i>rang him up</i> in his room, LOL! Poor lad - there is nowhere safe for him to hide

Penny don't feel bad, I tracked him down in February after I spoke to one of his co-CM's and asker her, she told me that he was off that day but he would be working the next day, then the next day I went to see him and he was on break but they called him for me and boy was he surprised when he came out. He's such a pleasure to be around though.
