DD Sarah has recently been complaining about her left shoulder being so sore that she cannot stand to carry her bookbag. I don't blame her. That thing weighs in at over 25 pounds. Our family doctor sent her for xrays and put her on Naprosin for a month after Sarah demonstrated how her shoulder "clicks" when she moves it a certain way. Trust me on this one. You do NOT want to hear this noise. Anyway, after nearly a month on the anti-inflammatory her shoulder is no better. In fact, she thinks it is worse. So off to the orthopod. When Sarah demonstrates her click, the doctor nearly hits the floor. He told her to STOP. He ordered an MRI and told her to stop taking the Naprosin. He asked DW Sue about Sarah's medical history, specifically if her birth had been a difficult one. How did he know that? Sarah presented "sunny side up" and I recall being genuinely concerned about Sue's well being (and Sarah's too). The clicking sound is Sarah's scapula hitting one of her ribs. And it may have all stemmed from that difficult labor. Sarah fell out of our waterbed when she was 2yo and broke her collarbone. And soon after she learned to ride her bike, she broke her arm in a rather nasty fall. I just hope that her past is not catching up with her. We'll see what the MRI tells the doctor. I see physical therapy in her near future.
Thankfully, some of Sarah's teachers have made arrangements to have an extra textbook available in the classroom so that she doesn't have to schlep around all those heavy books. And I'm really pleased that we found a doctor who is interested in helping with Sarah's condition.

Hugs to Sarah.
