FINALLY FL residents can make monthly payments!

The only problem I run into is that we are legal Florida residents (own a home there, keep our drivers license there, DH's military paperwork/LES states FL as state of residency, vote there,etc) but are active duty stationed in HI, so our billing address is our HI address. We've always gotten whatever promotion for FL residents, but this might be an issue.

I was thinking of this too. We have property in FL and FL IDs, but our credit card statements are NC.....and it does say you have to have a billing address with a cc statement in the state of Florida.

Since I plan to use my GAD passes towards an AP in the fall, I think I will just plan to start an ING account and put in there what I would be paying monthly towards this pass and save it for AP renewals for next year.

Oh, I really disagree. Just think of how tempting it would be for someone who was planning to go on a long trip, or two trips in one season. Pay only the first 1-3 installments and then just stop, because you're not planning on using it anymore? Normally that family would be buying 10 day tickets at a cost of somewhere between $350 and 500 per, while the cost of an annual pass is only $520. If you only pay for 3 installments on the AP you can get away with murder at $130 each -- only pay one payment and you're stealing it for $43: less than one day's admission.

If you live in Florida you are much more likely to actually make time to visit and use the pass throughout the year, as opposed to only once or twice. It makes perfect sense to me that they are restricting it this way. I can see perhaps also granting to DVC members, but not beyond that.

Yes, I agree with this. Disney is offering it to FL residents only as it's likely that they are frequent day-trippers and do not usually take 7 day Disney vacations.

I'm also betting that in this economy that they saw their FL Resident AP numbers drop significantly, and so they needed to resort to the monthly payment plan. The unemployment rate in Florida is 11.7%....two percentage points higher than the national average.

Why is it that WDW/Florida it is the entire state but DLR/California is it only the lower half/area around DL.?

CA is just too darn big with too many people!

We got CA APs every year when we lived in SoCal. But we lived close enough to pop down for the afternoon and then go home.

Besides the Key's and the Panhandle, you're only ever about 4hrs away from the magic Kingdom.
I see the SoCal discount offered to those that live close enough to travel to Disneyland for the day/weekend. But the cut off line is a bit strange. I know some one that lives 10 miles north of the cut off line, but she loves going to Disney. Kinda makes me want to go south to Fresno just so I can get the deal. I'd still be just as close to Yosemite from there as I am here.

Also, Florida law does not allow a company to give a discount to resdients of only part of the state.

I didn't realize that.. I know we have a water park by my house. It is owned and operated by the City. The City gives City residents a discount.. Is this because it is actually the City giving the discount?

Mickeyfan, we are just around the corner in Port Charlotte and I always get so mad that we do not get a discount at said water park
