We finally decided to go to Disneyland June 30-July 7. We have only visited WDW, but our 8 and 6 year old asked if we could go to California this year. We have reservations at Best Western Park Place Inn. I have no idea if this is ok or not. We know it will be crowded but is 7 nights ok for first timers to Disneyland for that time period? Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated. Our oldest has been to WDW 9 times and the youngest 7, and they are not tired of WDW but want to do some things in Disneyland and with Carsland opening, it really ramped things up. Thank you for anything you can share.

That is a fine place to stay. Fort his time of year I would suggest 5 days as the right amount so a day or two more should be fine.

Park Place is a great place for location. You are literally across the street from the entrance to the parks.

7 days will be more than enough time, so you can actually plan some time doing other things in the area like the beach or a trip up to Hollywood, Griffith Park, etc.

Disneyland is a lot different than WDW. You'll find that you get a little discombobulated in the park because it's similar in layout to Magic Kingdom, yet different enough to confuse you while trying to navigate it! Everything is more compact, and a lot more locals come to the parks, making getting there EARLY in the morning a big advantage. I find in the summer that you have a couple of very pleasant hours first thing in the morning, and then lunch hour and mid-afternoons get pretty crowded. Try to plan your days so that you can relax in the afternoons, go to shows, parades, less-attended attractions (Tiki Room, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, the Animation Studios, etc.) or spend some time in Downtown Disney or the beach.

The other difference here is that everything is within walking distance, so you don't have to rely on shuttles, etc. Just leave your car at your hotel on days that you spend at the resort itself and you can walk everywhere.

I think you'll have a great trip, and although this summer will be crowded with Carsland opening, etc., you'll be able to enjoy the parks completely with 7 days. Good plan! :thumbsup2
