Hello all,
After 22 separate trips to WDW in the last 10 years, I finally went ahead
and bought into DVC. I had looked at both the resale market, and the regular
Disney DVC site. We ended up going with Disney for Saratoga Springs, for
several reasons.
While the resale market was a bit cheaper, you have to pay closing costs,
and there is the added factor of having the leases expire in 38 years, as
opposed to 50 for Saratoga via Disney. This is a nice feature, as I can
transfer my DVC to my kids when I'm not there to enjoy it anymore.
In addition, Disney was offering a rebate in which they would match up to
10% of the down payment on the purchase price, which brought the actual
points price down from $98 to $90, They also had a good rate on their
financing too. The final clincher was that they gave me the full allotment
of 2005 points, but my payments don't start until 2006, so it was like
getting a free years worth of points thrown in. I threw an extra $1500 in
along with my 10% down, and that made for really low payments.
I already banked my '05 points, and we plan on doing our 1st DVC stay next
May for the Flower & Garden Fest. Even though we bought into Saratoga, we'll
most likely try to stay at either BWV or BCV, for the proximity to Epcot.
We also like the fact that you get a discount on AP's as a DVC member, which
is something I didn't realize.
Take care,
Bill ( who's off to a non DVC two week trip in 17 days, with AKL & the
Disney Magic Western cruise on the menu)
