DH finds out he might not be able to go after all! This is after the week of vacation was put on the calendar in April and after the last two weeks of checking with his bosses to be sure everything is good and trying to come up with any reason why it may not work. Friday he was told by his boss to just do it. Today, his boss gets a call from a higher boss who wants them all in one place smack in the middle of our trip. I am not happy to say the least.

Plus this trip is in Oct, less than 45 days out so we will have to pay to change and eat our Halloween party tixs that we already ordered. (DH called and was told this by a somewhat rude phone ressie person). And DD and I may our countdown calendar today just before he called...

Still want to go but have to start over on the planning - checking with MIL about keeping DS (4 months), hotel, ADRs, BBB, the works.

Before someone gets on the "you should have bought insurance" we really thought we were good or we would have.:headache:

Sorry to hear that...that really stinks and a little unfair of DH's work to do that especially since this was booked so far in advance. :sad2:

I hope it works out for you somehow.

I'm sorry you have to cancel your trip. :sad2: That is a huge disappointment I know.

I've never gotten the trip insurance before. Does it cover cancellations due to work related occurences? Technically, you and your DD could still go. But, of course, I know that's not the same as going as a family.

I hope your DH can get things worked out and you all can go next month. If not, I hope you don't have to wait too long to get to WDW.

Im so sorry!!! I want to cry for you! My DH's boss tried to do the samething, except she wanted to send him to another state for a conference for a position that he doesn't even have yet. ( she did this in Jan when we were all supposed to go to WDW with my whole family -15 of us- because they interviews "might" be scheduled during that time period, not to mention this was a surprise trip for him for his christmas present)

We were told he was going to have to go on Friday, needless to say this trip is for my birthday, and he told her that he would just have to not accept the new position if she was going to make him go. we leave in 17 days!

I'm glad he stood up to her.... his boss is always doing things like this to him!

But that really sucks that ya'll have to reschedule. (I never buy vacation insurance either)

 When do you think you will be able to reschedule for? You can try calling when you have the new dates and see if they will just apply all the funds you have down now to the new date so you don't have to pay any extra other than any cost difference.

Any chance of your husband's boss letting the higher ups know that he will just not be able to make it and they will fill him in when he gets back?

How awful!

I've always wondered what I'd do if my company did that to me. Would I just tell them I have a prior commitment and let them deal with it as they will, no matter the consequences to my job? Or would I cave and do whatever I was asked, no matter the consequences to my family?

One thing that comes to mind is that I can get another job a lot more easily than I can get another family. ;)

One guy I work with who was told to cancel his vacation the day before they were to leave simply said, "Fine, but the cost of doing so will be more than six thousand dollars. When can I pick up the check?" :thumbsup2

I dunno if I'd be that brave if it came down to it, though.

Hi, Would the "boss" pay for a flight home and back to vacation?? This way he would be there for the meeting but could also go on vacation. My DH did this once he flew home one morning for a meeting and flew out the next morning back to WDW! Joan

I heard something on the Dis podcast about being able to exchange tickets for other tickets. Example trade your not so scary tickets for Mickey's Christmas party. No sure on the details but I would look into it.

Sorry to hear about the change in plans but........

Well that really stinks!!!! :furious: So, I am assuming that your DH tried to get out of it. I know I would have definately said something about the cost involved. I sure hope all works out for you.
