as they say, "go big, or go home"...
so we're going big on our cruise this august...(i waited until after final payment to book to try for a price drop - which i got...woo hoo!!)
figure out which one we'll be on in the pictures below ;)

allure of the seas vs the other guys (including the disney fantasy)

allure of the seas vs voyager of the seas

allure vs maasdam

Beth you'll love it. We spent 9 days on the Allure last August, thanks to a tropical storm which also resulted in Ports changes, and loved every minute.
Yes it's huge but it really doesn't feel it when onboard and you get your bearings. The staff were fantastic and we had Captain Jonny who was a real character and even had a Harley Davidson that he went around on on the ship!
Have fun

lucky you!!!
and unlucky people who were on the cruise after yours!!
i read a trip report by someone who i think was on the shortened cruise after yours - she still had a great time :)

i sure hope that doesn't happen to us, though we are going during peak hurricane season

I'm so excited!!!
i have wanted to sail on the allure for some time - its finally coming true! :dance3:

Are you doing he Eastern or WEstern Caribbean BEth?
If for some reason you are stuck on the boat they'll open up the wi-fi to passengers so that you can get online for free :thumbsup2

somehow, i don't think i'd mind being "stuck" on that boat ;)

we're doing the eastern - nassau, st thomas and st martin...

which did you do? you said you went to different ports because of the storm...where?

No neither did we funnily enough.
We did the eastern but only did the Bahamas. After that we went to Falmouth and then Cozumel so basically the western itinerary.
En route to Mexico we picked up a little dinghy that had 58 refugees from Haiti. Originally they told the captain they were fine so off we went but then 2 hours later we went back for them as the coast guard had said to pick them up as they'd gone off radar 5 days earlier and they wouldn't survive a storm.

i remember that.....

i'll keep my fingers crossed that the weather will work out..
first i'll keep my fingers crossed that we get to the US in time and to the ship in time (we arrive in the US on tuesday for a sunday cruise, so hopefully that gives us enough time in case of bad weather,airport/airline strikes/etc.
