I have been to WDW over 35+ times (i had a different user name (princessangel) on the DIS, but i havent been on for a while and couldnt log on). I have stayed at a Deluxe every time (except once at CSR, which i liked fine enough).
I am running the marathon in January, my mom is coming with me. She has only been once! stayed at BCV. I was going to stay at POR in a Royal room, bc they look cute. But mom wants fresh air (lol) and being that the windows dont open, I was thinking, 'well i tried, but i guess we need a deluxe so she can open the sliding doors and get 'fresh air''
SO.............. I cannot decide, should i tell her too bad (lol) we are staying at POR, or should we stay at GF or BWI. (I have stayed at the YC and BCV about 30 times..... I have not stayed at GF in about 8 years).
its a silly decision, bc I know all the resorts inside out, i just want some input from someone else to help me make a decision already! lol (btw i am 30 something and mom is 60 something)
thank you!!!!!!!!! :)

I would go with a deluxe :). We have not stayed at POR, but we are a deluxe family (although have not stayed at BWI) and love all the extra amenities that the deluxes provide. I'm sure POR is a great resort, but if your mom wants/needs fresh air, I would choose a resort where she could enjoy a patio or balcony :goodvibes.

I'd go with the deluxe if it's important to your mom. A patio or terrace is a nice treat on vacation and I think I'd miss it. :goodvibes.

I'd go Deluxe and try to get a balcony room. Have you seen if there's anything at the GF? The monorail resorts were filling up pretty fast for Marathon weekend

Hi "princessangel!" I remember you!!!

We just stayed at POR and had a corner room in the new royal room. I liked it, it was very well decorated, but like you said, windows don't open. Having the corner room and two windows was nice, but we rarely opened the drapes. With that being said, if fresh air is important to your mom, then I'd go deluxe. We split our stay between POR and WL, and it really was nice to sit out on the balcony. And I am sure in the cooler months, it will nice to keep the balcony open slightly for a nice breeze.

Hope all is well with you. Have fun and good luck with the marathon!

I'd never tell my mom 'too bad' anyway, lol - i was just joking. She keeps telling me "it's up to you" but I just want her to be happy. for me, i've been so many times i dont really care, lol.
There is availability at the GF, so I think that might be where we end up. She loves Epcot (WS), but if we end up there even 2 nights, we can just take a taxi back to GF instead of the trek on the monorail if it seems too much at that time of night.
So even if the BWI makes a little more 'sense' bc of the time we will be at epcot... I dont know, I still for some reason am leaning towards GF.
