Final Straw With Disney Trip!

I noticed a bit of inconsistency when paying by credit card at Disney this past 2 weeks.

Most times you sign your name (unusual for us English as we have had Chip and PIN for a few years now and never have to sign anymore, always PIN number into the machine) a lot of other times you didn't even have to sign and they just gave you your card back after swiping it.

However, on friday at MK a very snotty young CM asked for my Driving Licence and Photo ID when i paid by credit card and then i had to sign the slip which he compared to the signature on both my card and driving licence.

10 Minutes later at the gift shop just next to the turnstiles the much frindlier CM didn't even ask to me sign.

In the US generally now no signature is required if the credit card charge is under a certain amount - I suspect that is what you experienced.

We use our debit and cards a lot in WDW. :rolleyes1
If it under a certain amount, then often you don't need to sign. Sometimes I have had CMs ask me to sign, even though it is under the set amount.
My card is rather worn, with the signature on the back in very poor condition. It is not uncommon for me to be asked for picture ID once they look at the back of my card.

Our area of Florida got hit not too long ago with the card scanners at 2 new gas stations (they'd put in new pumps & card readers) so that if you used your debit card & put your PIN in it had both. Tons of banks up & down the East coast had customers hit by this & the debits were done in Las Vegas and further west. DD's BF had his entire checking account cleaned out & luckily his pay check wasn't done electronically or he would have been out of luck. His bank was great about working with him and the police department and he was able to get his card & account "frozen" and new ones set up almost immediately. Our local police departments are still working this. I continue to use my debit card but NEVER use it with the PIN. I always swipe and sign for it as if it's a credit card. I frequented the same gas stations as those hit & luckily for me it wasn't scammed.

I'm sorry for the OP's bad luck - it does end up making the entire vacation a horrible experience.
