Hi All, Does anyone have experience with filling sold out DVC dates with cash reservations? We only have 1 specific week for our trip and we wanted to stay at CCV, but on a Saturday-Saturday stay there is a Tuesday and Thursday unavailable. If I fill those days with cash through Disney (since there is availability on the cash side), will I have to move 3+ times, or does Disney do a good job keeping you in the same room? The DVC and cash are the same room type, a one bedroom which we need. Any help or experience doing this would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much!!

Only at DHHIR. Weekends during the time period we went were so much higher, we thought, than MC rates, we'd always book the weekend part of our stay with MC and the weekdays with points (10 or 11 day stay). We did need to go to the front desk for a new room key, but I bet you wouldn't need to with MBs.

Have you called MS to see if they have them available for cash? Discount may not be as good it’s 25%..but when you do it via MS they can make it one trip.

Cash can be different as the systems are not the same. They will always try but much better if it’s all through MS if you can make it work.

Thanks so much for the advice! So, MS can book the cash nights and make it one complete trip even though there is no availability for two of the night with DVC, but those two nights are available through cash...?

They might be points they called back from Disney Reservation Center to book your nights. They weren't available for points booking.

I do it all the time. You won’t have to move as long as you have the exact same room type booked including the view. I tell the front desk when I check in & they keep us in the same room.

Yes, we do it, too. ALWAYS check with the front desk as soon as you get your room to be sure they see it. I've had DVC "link" reservations but that doesn't always guarantee you will stay in the same room. Disney really wants to work with you on this so they don't have to deep clean rooms for just one night, especially in this COVID-era.

FYI, everytime we have used a DVC cash night, it is a different reservation.

I've done this many times and only once have I not ended up with the gaps on points instead of cash. If available, use cash for the points through Member Services (not Disneyworld.com). You will have to pay for both now since they are not consecutive. Waitlist both nights for up to 7 days before your stay and set up the waitlists such that Member Services cancels the cash reservation once a night becomes available. I typically don't link them until the 7 day mark unless the points reservation comes through.
