I LOVE taking pictures. Just ssk my kids, grandkids or anybody who's been to WDW with me. In the past, I used good film cameras (obviously) and as digital came on the scene, used a number of those over the years as they improved. My last 'regular' camera is abiut a thousand $ Canon DSLR, about 6 years ago.

However, as high end phone cameras have so improved with things like good optical zoom and other features, I only use my phone camera today. As often said, the best camera is the one you have with you when the photo opportunity presents itself.

Thanks again for the fill-in poll @PollyannaMom

I enjoy taking photos and I only use my phone camera. I have an entire folder dedicated to taking photos of my dogs and it has around 400 photos. I also enjoy taking photos while I'm on vacation/traveling so I can look back at those memories.

I recently got a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and I get compliments all the time about how good the photos I take with it look. Probably the best phone camera I've ever used.

I am renowned for being a horrible photographer; made worse now by only having my phone camera. DH does most of our "memory captures" and I rely on others a lot to send me their pictures of important events. I also never was able to get into the whole selfie-craze due to having super-short arms and small hands. Probably a good thing though.

I don't take photos as often anymore, but I love using a manual camera for better control.

Took photography classes in college, learned to do the ol' wet processing. Now it's all digital, but I do sort of miss the old dark room days of watching a photo appear on paper.

I’m not really into picture taking. For years whenever we went on vacation it was always my responsibility to lug the camera around and take photos. My husband didn’t take any. I did it, but I hated it. I just wanted to enjoy my vacation. I do enjoy taking photos of my granddaughters. I use my iPhone for all photos.

I love taking photos! - Over the years, I've gone from film, to digital cameras, to mostly using my phone.
I'm like you, I love taking photos. I've gone from film SLR, DSLR and now iPhone 12 Pro Max and a GoPro. I also like to be in photos so we always take advantage of PhotoPass or scheduled Photo shoots. For many years, I go through my photos at the end of the year and print out 200 (I buy the same album format year after year) excluding vacation photos, those go in separate albums.

I take photos, mostly of the grand kids.....baking, working in the shop, birthdays, vacations, just being silly.
I use my phone if that is what's around, but prefer a camera. I take one with me on trips.
I don't take many of just us or scenery because no one will want them
I am now only scrap booking the kids, each year they have a book and family vacations.....not just me and DH anymore

We don't take nearly as many pictures as we probably should, especially now that our kids are older and at that age when they hate getting their pictures taken (17 and 21).

We have other cameras, but it's been years since we've brought those on vacation. It's just too easy to pull out the iPhones these days.

I take TONS of photos, always have! I have many many albums from the past but now I take pics from my phone and thanks to my sons they're somewhere on a cloud on my computer.

Probably a good thing I still don't know how to post photos here on the DIS because I'd probably be doing it all the time!! :teeth:

ETA......My very first camera was a Brownie and then in HS I won a Yes camera for selling the most candy.

I just got one, too, and now my phone camera is better in most ways than my actual camera (my camera has 30x optical zoom so it's more useful for that, but I rarely need to get that zoomed in).

I probably take more photos now, but all on the phone. This is due to always having the phone with me, no costs involved, and the ability to instantly text or email it to others.

That said, they can pile up and I dislike the task of going through and deleting ones I no longer want or need.

Actual photography and not just snapshooting using a real camera. I'm poor however so never had a good real camera. I learned the art with a cheaper camera and now it can't produce what I want to produce.

Phones work just fine for snapshooting, but you can't do anything close to what you can with a real camera.

I chose Other because I'm in transition. I always used a traditional camera for taking photos, but since my Godson was born three years ago I found it easier to pick up the phone when he's doing something adorable and take a pic using that. I really only take lots of photos when I'm on vacation and always used a regular camera. This trip to WDW coming up in September I've decided to use my phone instead of a camera for the first time. Don't know how it's going to go.

I love photography and have enjoyed it since I was a child.

I use whatever camera I have at hand, but at this time, I prefer doing video with the phone camera and photos with my DSLR. However, I am planning to upgrade my phone this fall (my current phone is an iPhone 6) and I anticipate that the improvements in phone cameras may have me using the phone camera a lot more than I do now. I would never give up my DSLR completely, but it may be reserved for special occasions instead of everyday use.

Me too. I don't like to take pictures because I'm so bad at it. I do take some out of necessity, but I don't enjoy it. I think it's because when I was a kid I had a cheap camera (a Kodak...the one with the flashcubes.) Everytime I took a picture, $$ flashed before my eyes. So I was taking pictures so sparingly I might use a 12 shot roll of film over an entire year. Then you take them to get developed and most of them didn't come out at all. If I had grown up with a cell phone camera I'd probably feel differently.

Did you ever say to a hot female classmate "Hey baby, wanna step into my dark room and see what develops?"

I am a hobby photographer. I have a ton of equipment, but much of it is outdated today (even from just several years ago). I just saw an article last week where Canon isn’t going to make dSLRs anymore - everyone is going to mirrorless. I have an older ones of those, too, but I prefer wireless technology to corded, it’s so much easier. I had a lot of fun with it for a long time, but I got tired of it all becoming very cumbersome, though I do still love shooting with a dSLR. When grandhildren come along I will likely splurge for a new mirrorless that I can use with the lenses I already have, and I look forward to that day. But until then, and for many years now, the iPhone is great photographically speaking, especially on trips. It’s freeing to be able to take good photos on something you already have in your pocket. The key is knowing how to get good pictures. If you do, you can eek great pictures out of any camera.

My DD took these recently with a newer iPhone. No editing other than cropping. Granted, she is a good photographer.

I love taking photos - I drive my family crazy - LOL!
They are always grateful in the end because they get their custom photo calendars and prints and other things.
Life is short and I want to capture as much of it as I can ❤️
