We leave tomorrow for the Polynesian. Some other family members are already there and were given Fiji but they requested Tahiti instead and have a view of the gardens. They said they didn't think the view from Fiji would be good due to lush plants and trees outside. Has anyone stayed there recently and do the plants block the view of the marina or beach area from Fiji.

I got back from the POLY last week and there are no trees/plants to block the view from Fiji of the marina or the beach. It's a great way to get a water view without paying for a lagoon view. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Do have or are going to post a TR? :confused3 I'd love to read it as we are staying at the Poly next year in June already made my ressie with longhouse requests of Saoma and Raratonga. What do you think?

Thanks.

PM if you can with your link if you have one.:thumbsup2

Fiji is our longhouse of choice! Both sides have great views, but we like the cove side, first floor. We sit outside in the morning and watch the monorail go by the GF. Its kind of like having a water view. You will love the location, close to the pool, GCH and boat launch. The view from the marina side is great too.

Fiji has some of the best views. Marina side you can see EWP and the marina and space mountain from most of the rooms. And the other side is right on the Lua cove beach. Some pople request this side and a pation so they can walk right onto their own quiet stretch of beach. You can also see GF and the wedding pavillion on this side. Also Fiji is close to most everything.

Fiji is what I'm hoping for as we leave in 19 days!!:cool1: Is this area noisy at all? There seem to be so many good choices of room locations for so many different reasons. I myself don't really want to be right near the GCH as I love to walk & check out the grounds. Will this location still be good for me? I just really want some quiet & a nice view. Doesn't have to be a MK view but that wouldn't hurt!! Thinking about this upcoming trip so much I've had dreams about the place twice this week. Both weird & not good-I wonder what that means.....;) Will definately report back when we return. Any other opinions on Fiji?

Those dreams are probably just pretrip anxiety. I had them last year and had one already 2 night ago. Fiji is a good choice. Some people have said lau cove side you can hear the music from the Lua when your slider door is open but it's not loud or anything. It's not on top of the GCH but close enough. Rarotonga is close. There are alot of good views at the Poly.

DH and I stayed in a 2nd floor room in Fiji on the cove side in March '06. Here are some pics from our room:

I wouldn't hesitate to request Fiji again. We found the location very convenient! :thumbsup2

Anxiety over a trip-go figure. I even had a dream about swimming in Bay Lake:scared: with nasty yucky water!! Sure I got that from reading a post. Thanks so much for the pictures. That side of Fiji looks really nice to me. Was it lousy not having a balcony to sit on? DH is very concerned about this!!:)

Why don't you put on your room request Fiji & Balcony. It which ever one is more important first. It can't hurt to ask. Just do it soon since i hear the rooms are assigned a few days before check in. LOL my DD really wants to swim in the Lake  , she is trying to tell me it's the ocean. Mind you we went to Poly last year and she lived by the Beach her first 5 years until we moved to TN. She knows the ocean. I had to  tell her there are crocs in the water. She doesn't seem to care about bacteria. Grose

It really wasn't bad. We are not huge "balcony" people, and I found that we enjoyed going out to the various beaches and getting our fresh air that way - love those hammocks scattered about! :thumbsup2

My initial request was for Fiji, 3rd floor, marina view. When we checked in, the CM was switching us to a room on this side, and lo and behold, a CM down the counter was about 30 secs faster, and assigned that particular room to the people she was helping. :headache: We could have moved buildings to get a balcony, but as all the rehabs weren't done at that point (but we knew Fiji was), we just stuck with it and took the cove side, 2nd floor. We were pleasantly surprised with the view! We opened the sliding door a couple of times when the weather was cool at night.

Have fun! The Poly is right up there in our favorite resorts - we plan to be back there in May '08! :goodvibes

When I made my ressies with CRO I did ask for 1st or 3rd Fiji cove side. We all know they are just requests. Don't know if I should call the Poly itself a few days before to 'tell them again' or just leave it up to the first request & plan old pixie dust. :cutie: This trip is really about trying the Poly instead of doing the parks. We go every year & this is a bonus trip because we have really wanted to try it & got a good rate too. Guess we'll just have to be surprised by what we get. I'm sure most rooms are nice. I mean, I certainly wouldn't complain if I didn't get the Fiji location & got Samoa or Tokelau. They both seem pretty popular too. I'll definately report back & post some pictures too.

We stated Fiji, 3rd floor, Marina side and LOVED IT!! As another poster said, it's a great way to get a water view without paying Lagoon View prices. We had a view of the marina, the volcano pool and Space Mountain. If we stayed at Poly again I would not hesitate to request the exact same thing.
