Figment Ride - Need to Ask

Ok...something I have to ask. The Figment ride at Epcot was one of those rides that was on my wish list before going. We did get there, and even twice as my kids wanted to go again...so it did appeal to them. But the funniest thing was watching DH's face....he thought it was the corniest thing ever. And yeah, i have to agree...pretty cheezy.

So is it just us? Again, our kids liked it so that is what counts, but it really was quite ridiculous.

My husband loves it, but only because he remembers riding it as a child every year they went to Disney. Neither myself or DD3 care for it. So corny. But I humor DH because I understand what it's like to relive your childhood!

Am I the only one singing the song now after reading this thread? I love figment, don't care for the ride but I think he is adorable. I do the ride once each trip but the family could care less for it.

Well NOW I am! Darnit!:rotfl:

I know...so catchy. :rotfl:
After our trip, I was on hold with Disney and the imagination song came on. It was in my head for the rest of the day.

I have only vague memories of riding the original as a child. I know that I liked it, and I was surprised when I rode it again as an adult, as it was nothing like I remembered. I thought it was faulty kid memory. Did it used to go up an incline/hill in the beginning?

We go on it every other vacation now it seems. The original is what stands out in my mind and I try to see if I can figure out where we would be in that version on the current ride.

Do I think the ride as it is is super corny? Yes!

The original was far superior. Why they took that out I still don't understand.

However if Figment ever leaves that park again, I will be seriously unhappy. I wanted to say the ride badly needs a reboot but these days that would mean Frozen. :scared1: (I'm kidding well sorta.)

Bring back Dreamfinder and make ride into a new version paying tribute to the original.
Also bring back a more interactive play area. And the rainbow corridor.:thumbsup2

Wasn't there a rumor that the ride would've been re-done with Phineas and Ferb?

As for the current ride, it's bad. But little kids may like it and I prefer it over Imagination 2.0. Figment has a place in Epcot, they just have to re-do the current version.

It just came to me! We know what happened to the original. It was the first casuality in the switch from old WDW to new, money-grubbing WDW.

It was a LONG ride = you aren't spending money
It has a play area = you aren't spending money

Follow the money, my friends. Follow the money.:(

aw i love this ride this and spaceship earth are the only two rides in epcot my friend and i will do multiple times a day when we're there

This is the ride that I wish they'd shut down and gut.. in order to put in a new trackless version of Figment & Dreamfinder ride. I keep thinking it would be a perfect way to clone a version of Hong Kong's Mystic Point ride and yet still make it unique to Epcot. Following Figment from room to room, etc.

This video explains a lot about the process of converting the ride from the original form to the current one, and really helped me understand some of the decisions that went into it, even if I don't always agree that they were the best ones. A lot of baby got thrown out with the bathwater, IMO.
