I had made my reservations for my December trip a couple of months ago. Just for the heck of it I checked my reservation online and surprise surprise. My direct 7:30 AM flight down to Orlando was suddenly a stop over in DC leaving at 7am. I checked the flight schedule to make sure they still had a direct flight, and sure enough, the flight number changed but was still the same time. Well, I called them this morning and the rep told me, sorry the original flight was cancelled, I mentioned they simply changed the flight number, and asked why they didn't just put me on the new flight number. Sorry, that flight is full. I said let me talk to a supervisor. After a long wait the supervisor got me on the 7:30 direct flight. Imagine that. This is my third fight with them. I'm a Southwest girl after this flight.

Once you buy a ticket you should be checking it for any changes. You can't depend on the airline to notify you.

My point wasn't about the change, my point was why did they move me from a direct flight when the only thing that changed was the flight number.

It's done by computer. Computers can do wonderful things but they don't have logic.

Our flight to Charlotte was cancellled and moved to another flight, had to call to get a better flight than they gave me on the computer

A flight leaving from Pittsburgh and stopping in DC before continuing to Orlando is a direct flight. You are confusing direct with non-stop.

I checked the flight schedules, it's actually a change of plane in DC, so it's a connection. What it looks like to me is they changed the non-stop to a smaller plane, which they have been doing alot at PIT. It used to be a 321, which has 143 coach seats, it's now a 319, which has 108 coach seats.

Actually, all computers have is logic. However, sometimes logic dictates that the best thing you can do is spread the passengers from a large flight over a number of smaller flights.
