Hi,

I am hoping that those of you that have used Fidelity can help me. I currently have an accepted offer, signed contracts, in with Fidelity on a contract. This is our 4th contract, the prior three were all with different brokers but I had the same relative experiences with the other three, but am really struggling with Fidelity. I am not sure if this is normal or if I am just getting a bad contract specialist. I was told at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning by our sales rep that the contracts were signed by the seller as well as us. I am under the impression the seller signed over the weekend, but Fidelity did not return my call or email from Monday morning until yesterday morning. I inquired with the contract specialist as to when it would be sent to Disney. Long story short, there is no timeline. The communication is very vague at best. I have no concerns about them being a legit company, I'm just frustrated with the process so far. The other three companies we have used all submitted the contract to Disney at most within 24 hours. I am being led to believe it could be next week potentially before it even gets sent to Disney. Is this normal? I have asked them for details on what their typical process is, and the timing, but of course no one responds, or responds with a very vague answer.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have only submitted my first offer with Fidelity. I thought I would get more communication from them. It was like pulling teeth to find out when our contract was sent to disney. I was told to feel free to check back because sometimes they don't see the notice that the contract has been sent to Disney. Really?? Our offer was accepted on 2-13, we got the contracts to sign on 2-14 and sent them right back. The sellers contracts were dated 2-14 as well, but I found out they didn't go to Disney for ROFR until 2-20. I'm not sure if that long of a delay is normal. I've seen a ton of contracts from around 2-20 pass, so I'm wondering if our contract has passed and Fidelity "just didn't notice." However, when I got the email saying the contract had gone to Disney, they basically said it can take 30 days to go through ROFR and to not ask before that (I'm paraphrasing, but that was the gist of the info sent). I'm not sure I'm very impressed, but they seemed to have the best priced contracts.

I had to constantly ask for updates, I believe they are known to be lacking in customer service but they happen to have a lot of cheaper listings and things do eventually work out.

It sounds like your agent is worse than ours...stick with it!

It just depends on the agent. Fidelity is a bit more than a DVC resale broker (to put it very mildly) and there seems to be one or two people that handle the DVC resales at any given time. That said, they are one of two companies that officially partner with DVD (the other being vacatia) so it's hardly a scam or anything of that sort. My advice is to just pack your patience and get through it. They often have the best deals out there, so ultimately it's worth it (even with the extra $195 they basically steal for the privilege of doing business with them.)

That’s the way I’m looking at it. $103 for AKV with 18 and 19 points is worth the extra 195 and lack of communication. I’m hoping the fact that they work with Dvc helps with rofr as well!

Same here. Mediocre customer service and certainly much slower than the 3 other resale companies I've worked with. But I was only going to add on if there was a deal, and Fidelity was the one this time around. Offer accepted midday on a Thursday, received contracts late on Friday, sent them back that night, heard nothing for days. Called and emailed on Wednesday and was told "Good news! Your contract will be submitted to Disney today!" o_O
Trying to just be chill about it. I'm in no real rush, other than being impatient!

I bought a Copper Creek contract from them a couple of months ago, and I had no problems with Fidelity. My questions were replied to every time in 24 hours or less, and they notified me each step of the way through the entire process. Sounds like I may be the exception though.

I knew I should have called today! I’m on the exact same timeline only now 1 day behind you since I didn’t call. I’ll call tomorrow AM!

This is my first buying experience and my contract is with Fidelity.

Communication was great at the beginning. I think the broker got annoyed with all of the questions I was asking (I like to know the details, especially when it's my first time!).

I did receive a PDF of the signed contract and notification that it had been sent to Disney for ROFR review right away though.

We purchased once from Fidelity (well twice - one ROFR), and once from The Timeshare Store. We were satisfied with both and didn’t find the overall experience significantly better or worse with either. Offer/contract communication and paperwork was very snappy with both. As I recall both closings were with 1st American Title. The first process -Spring 2017- took about 11 weeks offer to points, while the second -Feb 2018- was about 8-9. The brokers can only do so much. Once it gets sent to ROFR and on to closing, the timeline is out of their hands. Good luck! The waiting is hard.

I did a resale purchase of wilderness lodge a few years ago with them and was not impressed with their responsiveness. They got the job done and closed the transaction but it was not a smooth process. I had to follow-up multiple times to push the process along.

I did a BLT with Fidelity and couldn't be more pleased. The broker gave me her cell phone number and told me to call her if I had any questions. There was a 2 day delay after the seller signed and before it went to DVC for ROFR which was never explained, but the broker both emailed me the signed contract and called me to tell me that it was signed, and then called me to tell me it went to ROFR, and then called and emailed me to tell me it passed ROFR. From there on, it was First American, who seemingly took forever with no contact until "please send us money for closing".

I also had no problems with Fidelity, but First American were a nightmare. From the way they acted you’d have thought they’d never done this before, and they still owe us money months later!
I know they also work on direct contracts, so I wonder if they deliberately make resale awkward so that people don’t do it again! (I’m not sure how much I’m joking anymore! :-) )

W/ Fidelity it seems it very much depends on who your agent is. I would not want to deal w/ the agent I had the one time I bought through Fidelity.

Ok. I’m all caught up I guess. Just got the email that it went to ROFR today 3/7. Email came through at about 8pm. The seller and myself both signed and returned on 3/1 so that’s 6 extra days wasted!

i'm in fidelity with BWV right now. It was a little slow at the beginning but I am happy with my agent and their responsiveness to my numerous questions and concerns. I am purchasing from an international seller, had to get them to bank points after banking deadline, who was behind on their dues, it was a red flag for me from the beginning, but it has worked out, patience is big for me, timing is everything!! Got a clause in contract that if full points aren't there at closing, I can walk, plus with international seller, I'm hoping disney passes on it quickly!!!

Thank you everyone for sharing! At least I know I'm not alone. Mine was finally sent on Thursday 3/7, even though everything was signed by all of us over the weekend. They sent us the contract after business hours on Friday 3/1, and it was all ready to go on Monday morning 3/4 for them.

They didn't return your deposit?

They didn't return your deposit?

Nothing quite that bad! There was an unused closing reserve and we were overcharged for 2019 dues. They sent a cheque which we can’t cash. I honestly felt like they’d never dealt with an overseas buyer before (there were many things before this!), but having spoken to others in the UK this obviously isn’t true.
