Fibromyalgia Thread

My DH had a terrible case of cat scratch fever. He was so sick with it. Luckliy he has never had any problems since. :)

I have never heard of that!! I have a cat, does that have anything to do with it?? My cat is fully vaccinated however. :confused3:scared1: Sounds kinda freaky to me...what is Cat Scratch Fever???

Anyways I hope we ALL can have a merry christmas and wonderful holiday season, even those who chose not to be here anymore. I mean that for EVERYONE who is here past and present.

This has been on my mind to post this or not because I usually keep my "drama" private. I really try not to have it at all but here I am. :confused3 I have apologized to Tink in private with a very long message because it has never been my intention to ever hurt or offend anyone. However, since I repeatedly seem to trigger or upset Tink very much I have suggested politely that we respectfully ingore each other so I do not continue to upset her.

I would just please ask ANYONE if EVER any of my posts or messages seems rude or offensive or anything like that then please tell me that I have offended you and simply ask me. If I am upset, I am not a syde person, if it is important enough to me, I will just come out and tell you what is bothering me.

However, if I ever upset anyone here I would hope that respectfully I could be told and then I will review my response and apologize or explain myself what I really meant. Sometimes I can offend without knowing but it is not in my nature to be mean to anyone EVER. If I have a problem I will either ignore, or tell you what my problem is. I would just please ask the same from anyone else because this whole incident is unnecessary and very unfortunate in my opinion and I hope it never happens again.

Ok done now. Thanks for listening. :goodvibes

Hi there everyone: I have posted from time to time but promise to be more "present"--

I started this thread a while back because Fibro tends to be dismissed sometimes as not a "real" disease and as we all know it IS real and causes severe symptoms--at times worse than others.

I am glad the thread is still surviving and hope it continues to be a calm and reassuring place where people can share info and vent without repercussions.

Merry Christmas to you all and I hope 2011 is better for all of us!

Cheryl

Cheryl so glad to see you!!!!!!

Merry christmas!

Wow.. Were his symptoms like ours? I think my infectious specialist ruled this out when she found my toxoplasmosis.

He got cat scratch fever from our then kitten. His arms got scratched rather badly while we were giving a flea bath. The symptoms were high fever achy body sever redness at the sight of scratching and very swollwn large lymph nodes. The fever acute symptoms lasted about a week but it took about three months for him to feel ok. Our PCP said sometimes the lymph nodes actually have to be removed because they never go back to normal but my DH's did return to normal. I guess there is something that cats can carry under their claws and if you get sctratched badly enough it can get into your blood stream and make you really sick. It is more common with kittens than adult cats from what I hard about it. I don't think it is that common, it hasn't stopped me from having cats.

Merry Christmas to all!

Thanks Goodness!! I have a cat but have never had a fever for that long, so I think I am ok. And he never really scratched me when he was a baby, just slept on my neck a lot. He's too big now for that. :sad2: Glad your DH is ok now!!

Merry Christmas. :santa:

Hi Everyone!!!

Hope you had a wonderful holiday. Mine started off a bit rocky my DD11 decided to stay up till 4am thenset her alarm and hid it. She got her siblings up at 7:scared1: needless to say the lack of sleep caused some caos..I was so tired I sould bearly speak, DH was too and furious. her siblings just wanted to stay in bed a little longer preferably with us. We managed to pull it together and have a good time but buy 11 I was done. Conked out on couch for several hours. Something I never do since its better for me to go to bed. Dh just didnt have the heart to wake me.

Speaking of DH he got me Epic Mickey for the wii!!!!:dance3::dance3:
We played tonight and it was awsom:lovestruc After awhile I got tired and he took over and I backseat painted with the Prima guide or we would have been lost. Very intracate, involved game similar to Zelda or gauntlet on nintendo 64 for those of you old enough to have played that ;) anyway it looks like we will play it together taking turns being mickey since I get tired kinda fast for an involved game that will take many hours to complete. I would like to finish before I'm 50:rotfl:. Its nice to have something to do together that doesnt involve kids, work, school or Dr's.

Anyway see you all soon. Hopfully my sleeping patterns will not be affected forever by my wonderful soon to be 12 year old daughter;)

LOL at your daughter hiding her alarm! (sorry!)

My Christmas Eve and Day were good--however the 26th was awful. I guess I must have been overtired--ached ALL over--every joint it seemed like. Mostly stayed in bed and rested--something I have not done in a LONG time. Still having pain today but not as bad. NOT feeling like working however--good thing I'm the boss!

Hi all,

Just wanted to post and let you folks know that my cat Izzy died tonight. I am so sad. I hope everyone else had a better day than I.

Erika

Erika: I am so sorry about Izzy! Was it sudden or had he/she been sick?

Take care of yourself during this stressful time.

Hi Erika,

I am soooo sorry your cat died. That is terrible!! What happened was Izzy old or did Izzy get sick?? This is my worst fear and am watching my sylvester for signs of kitty flu.

My thoughts are with you..:sad2:

Thank you guys. Izzy had surgery last Jan for lung cancer but was doing really well. I just had him in for a check up on the 20th and he got a good report. Evidently he must have had a blood clot, he fell off the bed took two breaths and died. He didn't suffer and wasn't really sick. It breaks my heart, he was only about 12 and my first kitty Tigger lived to be 21. I have lost them both in a three year span. Things around here are a little off kilter and I feel awful. I hope you all have a good start to 2011, I appreciate all your kindness.

Awww hugs to you!!!!!!!!! :grouphug: I am glad Izzy didn't suffer or hopefully very long. He was a lucky kitty to have you loving him and taking care of him. I am so sorry this happened to you to lose two kitties in such a short time. Your heart must be breaking. I am here to listen if you need it.

How are you? Did you get hit hard by that storm. My family is in RI,CT and ME and it seems like it was haphazard how it hit them although the news made it look like it hit you all quite bad.

Have you started up with the tax assistance yet?

Still sending lots of hugs your way:hug:

Sorry you had a bit of a setback. Christams day really did me in. Tried to remind myself that mischievness is a sign of genius;)although at the time I didnt think is was a very smart thing to do unless you like making your parents tired and super grumpy.

I missed your post awhile back about the scooter issue. Sorry they were so hurtful. Like they know what your life is like just by looking at you:sad2:

It amazes me how judgmental some are here on the boards about who uses scooters and the multitude of fights over the companion bathrooms. Its like very few of us are willing to step back and see it from the other side. That we are not the only ones with disabilities and they are not always obvious to the naked eye. I dont know how many times i told folks that if people are not purposly making your life harder then let it go you never know what the other person is going through.

The only issue I have with scooters is with those who nearly run me over. I didnt use one my trips so I was moving slow and nearly got clubbered a few times:sad2: Then again if those people were walking they would have been the ones running and pushing past me anyway:laughing:

Glad to see you around again.

Hey bright how have you been up there in toasty Canada?

I've been trying wii fit since we got a balance board for a few of the kids games. It told me my wii fit age was 58:scared1::scared1::scared1: Guess I have alot of work to do. I favor the left side quite a bit on the balance games which concerns me because I am right handed so I should favor my Right side. If I hadnt had an MRI I would swear at one point I had a mild stroke. It most likely is caused by my migraines and the fact that my injury is on my rt side so I probably have learned to lean to the left. Still I dont like it.....:headache:

By the way we got monkey ball for the wii. It is the version that uses the balance board. It has lots of mini games and i thought you might like it to compliment your wii fit balance games. I just saw it on half.com for $12.99 sealed in box so you might find it cheap at a discount store or used somwhere. Make sure you get the one for the balnce board there is an earlier one. I like skidiving and the luge is hard! The main game is like you are a hamster in a ball and you have to run these mazes. Fun:banana:

Well gotta go catch you up some more tomorrow.

Pain free vibes:goodvibesand pixie dust to allpixiedust:

Hi Guys!!

Well it has been a very tough few months for me. Fell off the excercise wagon and proper eating due to extreme fatigue, it still has not lifted. Then when my grandma died, everything really went to hell. Christmas break was sooo crazy I had two weeks off but spent almost every day shopping errands, visiting, etc and am totally in a worse flair now, Then with sick kitty I brought home didn't help much either.

I rescued (or so I thought) a lil' kitty from my family's farm. She was so little and so hungry and cold and wanted int he house so bad so I brought her home as a companion for my sylvester. Well she turned out sick with upper resp infection and I had no $$ for vet and they were closed at Christmas, so I stayed in my room with her for three days. Then finally I had to take her to humane society and now they have given her antibiotics and say it is free for me to take her home but she needs vet care. I have no $$ for vet right now but they don't want her there b/s she can give the other cats the kitty flu. :sad2: I am so heartbroken. Everyone says don't bring her home cause she will get sylvester sick but I fear they will put her down if I don't bring her home. The farm will take her back but she will probably die out there. The cats don't last long out there we don't see them much past the first 6 months or so. I feel like such a crappy person, I just wanted to take this lil baby home and help her and I can't help her.
