Fibromyalgia Thread

Hi Bonnie,

I get like a burning sensation on my skin, it feels like something is burning my skin like a chemical or a sting. It hurts, sometimes bigger areas than others. It is nerve pain I think. Mine has increased since I have been excercising, go figure. :confused3

It first started on my left index finger, and I would always yelp out loud "ouch" and look at my finger to see what happened and nothing there... same thing??

Ihad a buring sensation that lasted for hours over my entire back several months ago.

This pain last for a minute feels like a shot then goes away. Think that's similer to what you have been describing but it was in varying spots on both legs

I used to get a bunring spot on my leg -thigh - and it would last for a while and then go away. Sometimes I get them in my fingers on the tip. Feels "hot" and unncomfrtable. Will last a few days/week and the go away. Not sure what it is but sounds like what you are having too. I bet it is fibro related.

Hello all,

Last week I finally had an interview with the school board for an Educational Assistant position. It is only for the supply list so I would be on call.

I really need your pixie dust and prayers that I get hired. It is my foot in the door, one that I have been waiting years for. Last spring I was told that they were not hiring this year for the supply list as they had enough people. I was heartbroken. :sad2:

Now they are - and I had an interview. They called my current boss for a reference and she gave me an awesome reference. That was on Thursday. I haven't heard anything since...:confused3popcorn:::teacher: I am really hoping and praying that I get on this list. It will allow me to work on days I am well and not on days I need to stay home and rest.

Please send positive vibes and pixie dust.......:wizard:popcorn::

Thank you.

Sending good thoughts your way! :wizard:

Hi,

I don't post here often but I read the thread.

Just wondering if anyone else is going thru hell as far as pain goes due to the changing weather? I'm been in such pain that I have hardly been able to walk unassisted all week.

Also upset that due to this pain I won't be able to go out with my girls for trick or treating which means I can't enjoy seeing them having fun or enjoy the neighborhood festivities.

I'm sorry you are hurting too.

For me, it's also osteoarthritis, a neck injury, and a spinal cord injury. Plus, both of my knees need to be replaced due to having fallen so many times over the past couple of years. Plus, found out I might need a hysterectomy last week as my uterus is in pain (have to have a few more follow up appts. before any diagnosis is made). I so wish I had a scooter so I could scoot around with them. I'm on Darvocet and it doesn't seem to help at all.

I definetely find the change in seasons is a major trigger for pain. As for trick or treating, I pop in the pain pills and push through it. No way I would have missed it. I do this for all major holidays and for the kids. It is hard during the time and right afterwards, but so worth it. Hope you can find a way to help yourself push through. Keeping good thoughts that you will find a way.

YEP having a terrible time this fall. Weight gain:scared1:, fatigue and nerological stuff seem to be my biggest problem with bursts of uncontrolable pain. I am sleeping which is unusally good:dance3:.

On a good note had a great trick or treat last night with the kids and DH. DH looked so spooky they took his picture for the town blogg.

Now Im really dragging but last night was so wonderful. felt like a normal family for a few hours...PRICELESS:thumbsup2

Seending good spooks your way this Halloween!

Today starts a new month - and hopefully a new attitude. I am having the hardest time coming to terms with the new "me". Over the weekend DH refused to go to bed so I didn't sleep at all. So today I slept until 2:30pm. At first I felt guilty, but now I feel a bit "refreshed".

So my goals for November are:

- I do not have to go everywhere with everyone, it is okay to stay home and rest.

- My weight needs to come off, but it will be slower than most since exercise is hard right now. It's winter and I understand that. So my goal is only 1/2 to 1 pound per week. I will not be upset if I don't make it though!

- Thanksgiving is about being grateful, not a huge party. We are doing a small family dinner only. If a huge meal doesn't get made, the world will still revolve.

- I will not be shopping the day after Thanksgiving unless it is via the computer. I used to think I was having a great time, but I wasn't. I was stressed and evil trying to get the best deal!

- I will sleep as much as I need, start a new walking schedule, and I will try to make as many home meals as humanly possible.

- Last but not least. Christmas is going to be very small this year. The only decorations will be the tree and few other special items. A few gifts per person is fine. I will not be upset that we chose Church over getting to family dinner on time, and most of all, I WILL NOT BE EXCHANGING gifts with family.

Wow thats great Tink. I know how hard this is for you:hug:

I am lucky that my family is all 11+hrs away. From the outside many assume that having family close would be a blessing. But for us our family was never very helpful :confused3 but always had something for us to do! We try to send gifts back when they visit to limit the stress of shopping, mailing etc on time but to be honest this is the first year in many that we have had any cash for christmas gifts that were not for our kids. My oldest DD is selling magazines for girl Scouts and since this year we do have a little cash to spare I'm sending all the adults on my list magazines. The scouts get some $ my DD earns a few badges, my family will think of me each month and there is nothing to wrap!!!

Ive done almost all my shopping online for 11 years now. ever since DD11 was born and I still was unable to drive because of the distance to the nearest mall.I love to bargin hunt this way, then use gift cards to earn fuel, get free shipping and get uprimise $ for my kids education fund. My DH laughs because he says by the time I'm through I've made those pennies Scream!:lmao: I think I get much better deals this way and save gas. Now I shop for the enjoyment of getting out ;)

For the holidays my DH always takes the day before Thanksgiving off so I can cook uninterupted and he takes Christmas eve and if possible the day before that off so we can have some alone time the last day of school. This really helps. Could some member of the family be home the day or two before to help you get a little more done? You may find that you children may pick up the slack in the decorating department if its something they enjoy having up and see that you will no longer do it. They are both old enough to do it on their own so you might be surprised.

I will try to post my make ahead gravy from Good housekeeping. You can make it three days before Thanksgiving. I'll also try to post my Fire and Ice ham, Christmas roast and pumpking bread pudding with bourbon sauce recipies. I make them all in crock pots so at Chritmas I do not cook for several days. Everthing in thrown in Crockpots chritmas eve day and put in the fridge to be taken out christmas morning and popped in the bases:)Except for the ham which we eat that night, then we eat off the roasts and ham all week then have a bang up breakfast which we have found we prefer over dinner. For breakfast we have Quishe-filling made for a frozen shell the day before, orange rolls (with frostin), Fruit salad, and if i'm up to it gingerbread or eggnog waffles (last year no waffles). Last year we spent the week playing wii and hanging out in PJs. I didnt cook for three days! or do Dishes or much laundry for that matter;)

Everybody does too much during the holidays. You may find in a year or two you prefer the scaled down version or that you start shopping and wrapping in early October. I did that before the kids.

Here's to a stress free holiday season!

Pain free vibes:goodvibes and pixie dust to allpixiedust:!

I've been following the thread and I've gotta say... you all amaze me! So many of you are so strong. You go through so much to make it through life and you keep on doing it.
I was diagnosed w/ fibro about a year ago... and my case is super mild. I'm med-free right now...although w/ the weather changes I sometimes think I'm crazy for choosing that path...
Anyways, you all humble me... Your strength is inspirational!

I'm glad you were able to go out. I was flat on my back in pain, unable to walk. I have so many other problems in addition to Fibro. that is is horrifying. I am in horrific pain today. Our heater is broken and won't be replaced until next Monday and it is 44 here and will get in the 30's tonight, this cold just makes the pain worse as you know.

I'm so sorry about the heat! First because fixing a furnace is EXPENSIVE :( I know exactly what you mean about the cold. Last few days not only has my pain been up a bit but I can't get my feet warm. They are so COLD that nothing short of saoking them in hot water for half an hour helps. :( I HATE COLD FEET!!!

Sending warm pixie dust your way!!!!

Welcome Brightsy!!!

This is such a great group of people! Hopefully you can find a way to manage your fibro and keep it right where it is by seeing all the coping tactics we all use here. Helps me a lot when I get a new symptom to have people to confirm its just this freeky disease and not something to worry about!

Look forward to hearing from you.

Tigg, hope you can get some rest, and can get that family and you healthy so you can get a hold on your fibro.

Tink, you really should rest more too! Glad to see your shift to focus on you. Why did your hubby refuse to go to bed??

have been MIA because last week I worked three days (only three hours a day, but I am usually standing on my feet for most of it). Friday we had a Halloween party for the kids and it was crazy, but fun!! I am sleeping at night and finally off the sleeping pills but awake till 3 am and sleep till noon. I am finally recovered from my laryngitis and swollen glands. I just finished my antibiotics and feel my neck sore again and my jaw causing lots of pain!

On the bright side, I got the job!!!!:banana::cool1: I am hoping that I can handle it, energy wise but it is my foot in the door. Thanks for all your pixie dust and good wishes, they worked. :worship::goodvibes:cloud9:

Eduke, thanks for the positive vibes you sent. How are you doing lately?

Brightsy and ILovemygirls, welcome, this is an amazing group here! :goodvibes

I had a good weekend, dinner out with my DS for my bd, and a movie with DS and my best friend, Paranormal Activity 2,:scared1: It was really good. I love a good scare, specially on Halloween!!!!! Hurt my back lifting a jug of water but still went trick or treating, it is starting to heal, thank goodness. Haven't lost much weight lately, but am now down a total of 30 lbs. I kinda feel a difference but not much. :confused3

Thanks for all your pixie dust, it worked. Now maybe I can get caught up on bills and save for my next Disney vacation. :cool1:
