FiberCon Pills while on Atkins?

Hello!
I have a question for all of you on Atkins....has anyone taken FiberCon? I have heard that constipation is a problem during the first two weeks (im in my second day) and I went out and bought FiberCon (pills) now im worried that I shouldn't take them, will they screw up my diet?

You should probably wait until you feel that you need it. I use metamucil once or twice a week. I assume that FiberCon would work the same way.

Fiber is a healthy part of our diet. Many of the fiber supplements have many carbs BUT they are mostly ALL 'fiber carbs' [of the soluble kind] which I wouldn't even worry about. I take metamucil daily to keep myself regular rather than waiting until there is problems.

Personally, I'd stick to the "natural" methods of getting fiber... ground flax seeds are a GREAT way to get not only fiber, but also Omega-3 fatty acids.

Adding flax meal to eggs, making cereal out of it, making flax/bran muffins... all great ways to get not only fiber, but tasty (legal!) things to eat.

Plain psyllium husks (which is what metamucil is made of) can also be added to salads and other foods for any extra fiber you need.

I also agree that you might want to wait and see.

I have been on Atkins for 6 weeks and have had NO problems with constipation (sometimes the opposite ). I can't imagine if I had taken Fibercon also .

Don't let yourself get too bound up, you know your body better than anyone, but be careful about too much preventative medicine that you may not need.
