I just dropped a money order off in the mail with the final $5,124.00 owing on my trip. I had until July 18th to pay it off, but the money was sittting in my US account waiting to send, so I thought I might as well get it all paid in Full! I sent my final payment to the address that was at the bottom of my reservation confirmation printout (Walt Disney Travel Co. Inc. in Atlanta, GA)

I hope that Walt Disney Travel Co. accepts a money order US funds, as payment! I do not have US cheques, and it would cost a lot to convert the CDN funds to US via my Canadian Master Card as my MC charges a "in addition" 4% or so to convert foreign funds. If my payment method is accepted (money order) I can officially say we are PAID IN FULL!!!:woohoo::yay:

That's how I'd like to my balance off as well, please tell if they accepted it...

We've paid our balance off using a US money draft and it was fine so you shouldn't have any problem.

We paid with US money orders two years in a row and it works out great. Will be doing again the same thing this year. You shouldn't have any problems

Is it really that much cheaper? Doesn't the money order cost you something? I was just planing on putting it on my Master Card.

I think changing large amounts of money on my MC (ie) $5,000+ dollars....would work out to not only the conversion rate of the day, but also a surcharge of about 4%...which could be upwards of a couple hundred dollars difference. I only paid $7.00 for a money order. Actually, my bank was nice and waived the fee for me, so I only paid to send it Xpress post... which was $ 13.50. I have a reciept and tracking number this way to make sure it gets to them!
I have a PC Master Card, and I remember asking my company once if it would be a large difference posting a large amount of foreign $ to my account. (I wanted to get my PC points for the money I spent on the package....) I remember being shocked at how large the charges were to put it on my MC...hence my reason to decide against using my MC for the paying my final package balance, as it was such a large balance. Hope that makes sense :)
If anyone knows any better about whether or not it usually is a big difference paying off a foreign balance with a Canadian Credit Card, I would love to know!! I find the terms of foreign currency on credit card very confusing to understand! :confused3

I'll have to check my CC company and ask how much they charge. I like using my Canadian Tire one. I get $ back at CT.

Hmm I just paid off my DVC on my CC and I didn't notice any large surcharge above the regular exchange when I look at my records... and believe me that was far more than $5000 :rotfl: :scared1:

My final payment is due in July. I considered all the above mentioned ideas and decided the most cost efficient and simplest way was to apply for a US dollar no fee credit card since I have the funds sitting in a US dollar bank account. When the time comes, I will just give my TA the card number over the phone and there will be no exchange fees, postage, running around getting money orders, no extra fees whatsoever and I will even collect airmiles!
