I know I am not the only one who has become obsessive about checking my email (and DH's) since the 40% off pin code got reported :goodvibes

Fess up if you are checking it a lot more in hopes of getting the magical Disney Destinations email! Or if you get excited to check your mailbox in the hopes the elusive postcard will be there...

Any other measures you have taken to see if it will "help"? I for one ordered a planning video. I also set up DH with an account on WDW's site and had him order a planning video as well ;)

Come share your stories as we sit and wishfully wait...

Ok, I'll cop to this.

I updated my disney profile on disney.com
I ordered the planning video
I made 2 itineraries and saved them

I am checking the e-mail a lot more than before and I want a code so bad!!!

I am going to call tonight and see if there is a code attached to my name...I feel like an idiot asking but I want it so bad.

me, I think I just checked it 5 times in the last 2 hours

I will admit that after reading the boards the past few days I have been checking email and just got back from getting the mail, nothing:confused:

However, I picked up the phone and called CRO about an hour ago and lo and behold, there is FINALLY a pin code attached to my name:goodvibes. Got a 40% discount for GF in Sept for around $2300, probably won't go thru with it, sort of Disneyed out:eek:

We vacationed at WDW the last two years; in 06' at AKL and BWI last month, with nary a pin code in sight! Ironic that we've decided to give ourselves a break from Disney and do some alternative vacations... and now I get the pin code!

Here's hoping there is some magic in your mailboxes!

I'll admit I've not only been checking my email, but going back through all my old messages trying to see if I missed something. No success, so I finally called today to see if there was a code by my name in the system... turns out the email they had in their reservation system was a really old email address - even though I keep my contact info updated online. Apparently the two don't interact. Maybe I'll receive something now that my info is updated. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!

I'll fess up.
Checking both of my emails & my DH's email.
Made an itinerary, made a phone call and been stalking the mailman, poor guy.

Nothing here.

I've probably ticked them off since I have...

  1. Updated our main Disney.com profile...
  2. Added two other Disney.com accounts - the main is in both our names with our shared e-mail address, the other two accounts are now each in our own name with our separate e-mail accounts.
  3. Made at least two saved iteneraries on each of the three accounts
  4. Called CRO, made a package reservation in the afternoon one day
  5. On the same day (later that evening) called to cancel saying - "I forgot that I can get a 20% discount on my room portion if I book through CAA, unless you (the CM) can find me a better discount, I should probably cancel this ressie and book later with CAA"
  6. And yes, I keep checking our e-mails, and checking... and checking.......

Am I being ridiculous?

Okay, hate to ask and seem dumb, but what is CRO? I am new to these boards and this is the one acronym I can't figure out. Please don't laugh.

CRO is simply Disney's "Central Reservations Office" - at least I'm pretty sure that's what it means.

I'm with you guys. I've probably checked my email more in the last few days that I normally would in a month. And I've done the same as a lot of you - updated my Disney profile, ordered the planning dvd, etc. Also (and it really is pure coincidence) I'm pleased that the wife and I made an $80+ order from Disney shopping last week. Can't hurt!

Ive checked email 5 times already today, been at the maibox waiting and made 3 calls to update profile and check for pin codes!! yea im going to lose my mind if i dont get a code soon!!

Thank you! Glad to see there is someone else as obessed as I am. My hubby thinks I am just nuts, but apparently I am not the pnly one who really, really wants this code. :goodvibes

I'm guilty too! I incessantly check my email, and get almost giddy when the mail comes each day (darn Sunday and NO MAIL!). I updated all of my info at Disney.com and Disneyworld.com too. I haven't tried calling CRO just yet as I am saving that for tomorrow. But I know Disney has my info because apparently last year I had a code for Jan/Feb, but never received any word that I even had it! However, I think I may set up a few accounts with some alternative email addresses too! Also considered ordering another video, but already have two, the wedding video, AND the DVC video and all the information!! I think I'm beginning to hoard it!

So glad there is a support group like you guys! :worship:

I keep checking my email and this message board to get sometype of discount.. Saving money is always good in my eyes....

Well, last night I tried another option...

I called to get a quote and possibly book - but I had spent the day making Exel spreadsheets to know EXACTLY how much what we wanted would cost for every conceivable combination and discount package. I even included the cost of renting a fridge at a Value resort to let them know that I had a really good idea of how much things would cost.

So, I told them this is what we want - end of August to early September, 8 nights in either the ASMu Family Suites or two preferred rooms at Pop, either vacation including a 5 day hopper for two adults and two juniors and the basic dining plan for 7 nights (the eighth night would be booked as a room only ressie).

As the CM was figuring out the cost, I said that is should come out to (without the fridge) $3317.83 - I think she was a bit surprised as it was a bit lower than what she got - I told her to take off the trip insurance as I would decide whether to add that later - she got the same total.

I then said that we are CAA (Canada's AAA) members, and that using the 20% room discount, we could lower the cost to $3056.28, saving $261.55. The same figures for the Family Suite would be $3370.60 vs. $3033.40 for a savings of $337.20. She replied that she couldn't book a package with that discount, and that I would have to go through CAA directly. I agreed, but I said that we are always eligible for that discount, but that our budget really only allows us to go when we get a significant promotion, such as our Free Dining vacation in September '06.

So, I asked what she could do, saying that the costs for the two rooms with the current 40% code going around would come out to $2717.88 - a savings of $599.85. Or, the Family Suites with the 40% would be $2700.68 - a savings of $669.62.

I then said if Free Dining came out instead, we could save $785.22 on the two rooms and $717.86 on the Family Suite (if we booked through CAA, a little less savings, but close, if booked through Disney)

Finally, I said that if we did get the 40% code, and then Free Dining came out, we could keep the 40% on the second room in the two room ressie and apply free dining to the package, or on the Family Suite, switch to Free Dining, and place the one night room only on the 40%. Savings there would be $975.57 on Pop, or $759.45 on the Suites (okay, that would be an easy choice as to which way to go!)

So, I said we really weren't prepared to book a vacation with CAA only, when there are two potential discounts out there that could save us a lot of money and make the vacation possible - so, was there anything they could do... was there a code attached to our address?

She said no.

Okay, getting both Dining and the 40% is very optimistic, but I should be able to reasonably hope for one or the other, saving somewhere between $670 and $715 as opposed to only $260 to $335 - in other words, we should be able to save at least twice as much as opposed to only going through CAA.

Still, she said there was nothing she could do.

I said thanks anyway, and I hope something will come out for us in Canada soon.

Well, at least now they know I've done my homework and the price I'm willing to pay.

me

desparation is an ugly thing

Guilty, guilty guilty...

Set up DH, created 2 more for a total of 4 accounts and I have ordered a DVD.

DITTO! Wishing, hoping, praying, for a magical discount for our Nov. family reunion trip! :thumbsup2

We had a ressie that was made for January with the 40% off bounceback code from our stay at the Poly late last year. We had to change that to September, because my partner was unable to make the January dates work with her work schedule. We decided that we would rather go in December 2008 with her family than go alone in September, so we called yesterday to make all of the arrangements.

Sadly, no 40% off code was listed for us. We booked ASMo using AAA. We will be there 12/10 to 12/19! We are very excited!
